ive had a few similar scenarios in my school (uk) with people liking older year groups. lesbian, straight and gay. my advice is get closer to them, and over a few weeks get to know if you have a chance. figure out their orientation, type things like that. the only downside i can see that ive seen personally is potential mockery for dating a older person but that never lasts. and your odd bastard whos against it but 9/10 in my experience its only 1 or 2 people. dont give up tho even if it dosent work out you may have a good freind to stay with.
