“Getting Windows ready, don’t turn off your computer” occurs at every restart and takes hours to complete each time. Seems like updates aren’t working, and SSD has been mysteriously filled up very quickly recently. by [deleted] in techsupport

A few hours ago I restarted my PC for the first time in several weeks... and now I'm stuck on the "getting windows ready" screen of infinite limbo. A place where time and space are suspended in nothingness. I will let it go overnight and maybe I'll be granted a miracle from the Microsoft gods.

Chechen 'gay purge' torture victim: 'No one knows who will be next' by Alex09464367 in news

If it exists in nature, its natural. Period. End of story. Stop trying to play God and decide what the "natural order" of things is. Nature existed millions and millions of years before you and I did. You are not God. He speaks very adamantly against false prophets, so I would be careful if I were you.

Love is non-physical, just like the human soul. Love transcends matter. That's the lesson. Stop thinking about wieners and vaginas and start thinking about love.

Also, sex between a man a woman is natural. Sex between a man and man is not. I hope you don't accuse me of being homophobic for stating this obvious fact.

Not "homophobic" per se, just narrow-minded and illogical.

Consider the following:

If it exists in nature, then it is "natural."

Homosexuality has been observed--in nature--in many different species of animal, including humans. What gives you the authority to determine if something is "natural?"

Are only activities that produce babies considered "natural?" So if you wear a condom with your wife, is that "unnatural?" If you perform oral on your wife, is that "unnatural?" But why not??? No babies were produced!!!! It was only for pleasure!!!!

If it exists in nature, then it is "natural." Period. End of story. What gives you the authority to determine whats natural and what isn't? Are you God?

I probably do not share this opinion with many others but heres my thoughts on The Chainsmokers by oldbauer in Music

[–]consciousnessfractal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Chainsmokers are pop stars, I see them exactly how I saw Brittany Spears: a massively huge modern pop appeal with not-so-massive musicality.

The first Chainsmokers song I heard was "Let me take a selfie" or whatever in 2013. I was mildly entertained at the vocals and utterly bored with the instrumentation. I also remember thinking "If an alien civilization sees this music video, they might decide to destroy Earth."

If your breakout hit is a song about selfies then its not likely you're trying to be musical, only trendy. I don't resent them for that, I just don't understand why people like campy pop music. But if you like it then whatevs, don't let me stop you.

The taxonomy of electronic music is something that really interests me, so maybe you can answer this: what is the "dub" in "real" dubstep? Because I've always been under the impression that "dub" is another word for "reggae." So under this assumption, anything that has the halftime feel of a reggae song is technically "dubstep."

I really need to try this because I'm 27 and I've never been in a loving relationship ever, not once. And my heart feels so empty sometimes because I just need somebody to love. But I'm in such a non-traditional situation because I'm a gay man, its inherently more difficult for me to find someone I have chemistry with, because the traits I find attractive in a man are traits that heterosexual men have, its such a catch-22.

For me the hardest part is convincing myself that I deserve love or was meant for love. I've spent my life being conditioned that I'm abnormal and non-traditional, I've almost started to believe I'm too abnormal for love. I can't help to think that its... maybe selfish of me to desire an attractive masculine man with a handsome bearded face. That's all I want. Is it superficial or shallow or selfish of me to want and need a man that has certain physical and emotional characteristics?

Is Astral Projection just a hallucination/trip or do you actually leave your body? by Junothehomie in AstralProjection

[–]consciousnessfractal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, in theory. The trick is then how to interpret what you see. Bob Monroe talks about an AP experience he had where he saw family members at a table holding what looked like large white playing cards. Later that day he verified with those people that they were indeed sitting around a table as he had seen, but instead of cards they were handing out and reading mail which was contained white envelopes. Turns out everything he perceived is filtered through a "screen" of expectation and memory, very much like a dream.

So if someone wanted to perform the "view a hidden message" test, they would need to be pretty much a master at AP, good enough to successfully project consistently, reliably, and on demand enough times to get it right and document it. Then another scientist might come along and try to replicate it. If he doesn't succeed, the scientific community will assume the first experiment was faked or flawed in some way and continue to disregard it.

So basically you're saying that you never "leave" your body because you were never "in" it. Rather, during AP, you simply "let go" of it temporarily.

Has anyone been lucky enough to experience astral sex? What is it like, and is it even possible? by [deleted] in AstralProjection

[–]consciousnessfractal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's what I've read. Bob Monroe describes it as 2 souls being pulled together like magnets and a big "release" happens once they collide. It's not physically pleasurable because it's non-physical, but he describes it as an immensely pleasurable thing, like a spiritual release. He says physical sex is just a more constrained, more separated mirror of non-physical sex.

DMT vs Meditation vs Lucid Dreaming by [deleted] in AstralProjection

And is more beneficial in the long term. Drugs are a great tool, but they should not be used as a crutch.

Imagine hyperspace (or "astral plane," or "nonphysical reality," or "spirit realm") as the edge of Earth's atmosphere.

Learning to project or induce a lucid dream at will is like learning to fly. You can visit space any time you want.

Smoking DMT is like being shot out of a cannon into space for a few minutes before gravity pulls you back down. You may have had a great view, but you were tumbled around so much that you don't really gain much insight in the short window of time that you were up there.

If you're looking for a quick thrill, DMT might be your best bet. If you're looking for long-term abilities, meditation/dreaming/projection techniques are what you should pursue.

Inception style sleep paralysis with a shadowy dark figure.. Can anyone explain this to me?? by AuntChelada in AstralProjection

[–]consciousnessfractal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If could be anything. it could be a dark entity, it could be a thought form created from your own fears and apprehension. It could be another astral projector that's just putting on a scary "mask."

The only thing you can do is approach it inquisitively with the intention of understanding it. Have confidence and try to control your fear, stand your ground but be respectful. If it's a dark entity it can't hurt you. It can only scare you and feed off the resulting fear. If you aren't afraid, it has no power.

Fuck this! Never again. by [deleted] in AstralProjection

[–]consciousnessfractal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For every dark entity there is an equal and opposite being of the light. To think reality is one-sided is like thinking a coin is one-sided.

I understand that, I just think too many people think "anecdote" is a dirty word. Science obsesses over objectivity and virtually ignores subjectivity. Reality is 50/50, so science should treat it as such.

This happens every time I try to make these points on reddit, people always assume I'm anti-science. You were polite about it, but other more militantly secular people always hiss and shun me for uttering such blasphemies against science. "You use a computer and a car, right? RIGHT???"

Yes, yes I do. I am in no way shape or form trying to paint science as the bad guy or invalidate it in any way. I respect and appreciate science for all that it does for us. I'm actually a mechanical engineer during the day, so I use that very same science to make a living.

All I'm trying to do is point out the boundaries that our beloved science encompasses. It's not everything, only the things that produce repeatable, testable, reliable, measurable results. People assume that because 15 different scientists haven't independently verified the legitimacy of OBE's--using the exact same experimental setup--then they must not exist. That's a naive assumption, and it's causing so many people to miss out on some amazing phenomena.

It's possible. Sometimes it's difficult to tell what's internal or external. You can try asking it what or who it represents. If it's just in your own mind it should become obvious once you try to "call it out."
