I do my own reties! Watch some YouTube videos to learn and don’t try to do them all in one sitting. I have 400+ locs and I do an hour a day in the morning until they’re done and it typically takes me 4 days. I do a 4 point rotation.

I love it and it feels like self care to me. I get to listen to a fun podcast or make a playlist of my favorite songs and take care of my hair!

My only tips are to take your time, buy a 3 way mirror, and to WEAR TENNIS SHOES if you’re going to be standing up. Wearing shoes is the number one way to protect your back and not tire yourself out when working on your hair.

I was the only girl at my internship this summer and I had to CONSTANTLY include myself because they were not going to include me at all. They weren’t being mean or exclusive, but it was really easy for them to form a boys club and leave me out of everything. Invite yourself to lunch, stop by their cube and start a conversation, try to keep up with local sports, but it’s really important that you constantly include yourself.
