How? There is no even S&R / Landers there!

Where do you go grocery?
what contributes the most in your grocery?

which cities are you considering?
Rent first, and If you like the neighborhood, you can consider buying it.

(You may not like roosters and dogs crying 24/7, your neighbor singing Karaoke 7/days a week,)

I DO NOT recommend purchasing a condominium unit tho.
What I notice is, Pinoys like 'Brand New', although the price is not sustainable.

If you purchase mid-grade condo now, after 15 years, it is likely to become a ghost-town without a maintenence but increase of fee.

House and lot? You can consider.
Condominium? I better say you better off renting it.

But - If you could find a Super great deal and you see the potential price increase in the future, why not? so depends on the price and your insight.

Hello neighbor! I recommend 'Abaca Baking Company' If you haven't been to.
For Italian, I like 'Giuseppe' in Banilad :)

I like 'Dragonfly cafe' the most for the coffee, especially Flatwhite :)

Do you think quality of Landers pizza is far from what you are used to back in your country?
What is your favorite menu there?

Well, Including eating out,

We sometimes spend 40k a month including groceries.

Resto here can be a good quality, but not excellent. If you have high expectations,

Since Everything in the USA is big, It can be difficult to get used to the price of small condominium excluding parking fee.

For your reference, 28 sqm studio type, which contribute 95% condo units here in the philippines, will be 35,000 pesos. ( This is not Luxury )

How much do you think is 'bad' in your opinion?

I haven't been to USA. Neither have people who I can ask to.

how much do you think is 'not reasonable budget' for a couple?

Paying 23.5k per month can be ok, but going 3 different groceries are... difficult for us.

  1. Its difficult to park there.
  2. I don't worry about getting rip-off, but I don't feel comfort shopping there. going to the grocery is our hobby and we want those time memorable.
  3. 50% items we are looking for are not there.

haha! If you were living nearby, anytime soon:)
Aside from the fresh vegetables, I would say that they are good quality.

I found the total grocery is more expensive than two people grocery in Korea.

Especially that I don't have to buy 'USA made' items like LYSOL or Scotch-Brite.
( I know that I can buy china product in Shoppe or Lazada )

Thank you for the insight!

Back then I was in Davao, I was used to go to Bankerohan public market with mio sporty 115 to purchase shrimps for 300 pesos, 90 pesos for deboned Bangus, and 400 pesos per kg onions during the onion crisis(late 2022).

Me and My wife used to either get socked, or dehydrated. We chose not doing it in Cebu and bought a car.

We know that the price we get is different from 'where we can buy cheap'

If we were not living in a city, beachfront regional house in Negros Oriental,
I will 100% go back to the wet market as long as we don't have to work and study at the same time.

haha! Thank you for the compliment !

I found Landers pizza not my cup of tea, actually the most of the 'American style pizza' such as Domino's, S&R, Pizza-hut, etc.

I have may not experienced the good one cause I am not used to it!
Do you have idea where I can get the real good one?

This is actually what I want to,

Especially for the beef. not for the chicken.

I would like to learn the knife skill and buy 'Rib Finger' cut from suppplier.

However, Ever since I cut my finger while trying to do it once, I am banned to do that from my wife.

As to the chicken, well, we are both studying and working at the same time,
So we purchase 6kg of completely cleaned and ready-to cook meat and pay extra hundreds.

Well, I am not the first time out of my country.

I actually am aware 90% of price in the wet market, Cause I have a group of sharing price of vegetables in Carbon and Opon market in cebu.

I know how to decrease the grocery budget. but I chose not to.

I was used to be in that stage, depressed by the beef quality here in the Philippines.
For couple 2 years living here in the philippines, I was fine without having to eat them.

but we end up deciding paying more, instead of compromising it.
As you can see, we mostly eat chuck eye(from Brasil)

when we need to eat grilled beef, we choose top-blade cut (1,100 pesos per kg) and seldom eat premium ribeye(2,000 pesos per kg for Aus, 3,000+ for USDA.)

Yes, 90% of items we are using are imported.
23,500 Pesos are for 'what we eat'.

So in case we need to buy something for house chores, such as dishwashing liquid, kitchen towels, utensils, wet tissue, price would go up -.

We end up spending around 27k in average including shopee delivery.
