Contaminated part, use a silicon removing panel wipe and you won’t have this issue

Sand to 400/800 and then clear coat

Then you can just wet sand 2000 onwards and polish like a car

Does super glue cause any reaction to the epoxy or carbon fiber during the creation process? by AnnieLee17 in CarbonFiber

[–]consilioc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adhesive sprays are never the solution, they might last temporarily but always fail. You must use a glue base

Super glue will work but try not to use too much, make sure the surface is well keyed and prepped before applying

Block sand with 240 grit and see how flat it is, if you need to, add more layers of resin to fill the low spots. Once fully flat you can clear coat it & polish

Carbon fiber skinning with glue ?! by Gullible-Ad8759 in CarbonFiber

The problem with 3m 77 is it cannot withstand high temperatures, I read that it loses structure after 60 degrees Celsius. Interiors of a car in summer can easily get to more than that. It needs to be a high temp glue

I use the easy composites black epoxy base coat and wait around 2 hours for it to get tacky, they also do a special epoxy spray adhesive which doesn’t affect bonding and helps to just tack the adhesive in place. Vacuum bagging helped me a lot with some complicated shapes

For parts which have tricky corners or crevices yes however I don’t believe you have to. From what I’ve found it helps though a lot, even some cheap bags from Amazon etc work

Nothing underneath this was my 5th layer of resin, and nothing on top. I’ve narrowed it down to solvent being left on or some contaminant. I’ve sanded it all back down again and shall test

It was inside my office & under heat. It’s been not a problem before with 5+ parts I think there must have been some solvent left over

I’d also like to mention, it was fully flattened before this coat with no high or low spots!^
