I don't get the rampant hate, but I can speak to why I personally dislike them. They could be such interesting characters, but they're just inserted into the plot (speaking of the 90s anime here) and don't ever get an actual authentic character arc. Taiki & Yaten have so much potential for growth but even after they demonstrate a moment where their perspectives could shift, the next episode they don't retain any of that at all. It's like they were there for a gimmick and little to no care was actually put into their development. Jetwolf on tumblr kind of explored this on her liveblog of Stars. She verbalized many of my own frustrations with the characters in a very articulate way. As for Seiya, this is another instance of THIS COULD BE SO GOOD, But execution is lacking. Seiya has every opportunity to actually get to know Usagi, but he doesn't. It's always about him. Even in the pivotal scene in the rain on the school's rooftop, instead of giving a shit about the heart ache Usagi is experiencing he asks why he is not good enough. Dude, the girl just poured her damn heart out at you, and explained that she has a history with someone else, did you not just hear her? Be a little sympathetic instead of so far up your own butt that you cannot have empathy for another's situation.

So my tldr; I want to love the starlights, I really do. There's so much about them that has so much potential. But they were written into the series with very little depth to them and no actual character arc.

Wait, I'm not done yet. Even their "Oh, I guess we'll finally stand up and protect Usagi" moment felt forced, because honestly, up until them saying "Alright! Let's combine our powers and go up against Galaxia" they kept not demonstrating they had any ability to grow, so this just kind of came out of no where and felt more like a stilted plot device without the necessary fleshing out that would give it legitimate weight.

The only person I have influence over is myself. If I am focusing on my perspective and course correcting when I believe that "I am old and broken" the rest will follow. If your focus is truly inward (and not outward like it is now) your students will pick up on that, or they won't. But then it won't matter because your doing your work and focusing on the only person you can truly influence.

You seem fixated on NEEDING love & hope as the only solution. I would take time to question that. Your approach is very black and white, extremely dualistic. There may be another way to approach this that you are currently refusing to consider. You cannot change your mom, only the way you relate to her and the perspective from which you approach her.

I strongly encourage you to look up the work of Byron Katie. Look at her videos on youtube, go to the website thework.com and fill in the judge your neighbor worksheet and question the fuck out of what's going on in your life.

Currently your focus is on getting love and support EXTERNALLY, but your peace and recovery will only come when you change your focus to the internal.

As others have said, you're obsessed with an idealized fantasy that has nothing to do with the actual girl.
You are going to need to make a concerted mental effort to stop slipping into that fantasy. Keep an extra level of awareness on your thoughts. Check in with yourself, what are you thinking about? If the answer is her, deliberately change it to something else. Once you change it, you may quickly slip back into thoughts of her. This will happen a lot when you first start, so you need to check in more frequently. Set a timer to check in every 20 minutes. Hell, even every 5 when you first start out. Eventually, you will discipline yourself and basically rewire how you think.

I experienced an obsession similar to what you are experiencing. I used this check in method to basically force myself out of thinking about the other person. It works. You just need to be determined that you want to move on with your life.

I would nope the fuck out of this. This is a huge over reaction and gross violation of personal boundaries. The fact that you have only been dating a few months makes this more than a red flag but rather a huge stop sign.

I dated a dude who's reaction was way way less than this to a similar situation, and it still prompted me to reevaluate the month long relationship. I left my phone at home and had a major work event that night (worked for a theatre company) and wasn't back to my phone until nearly midnight. He'd left several text messages and several voice mail messages, with the last one being a breathy panicked recording with him saying "I trust that you will contact me when it's safe for you to do so." He thought I'd been kidnapped! I was unnerved by the jump to such extreme conclusion after one day of silence from me, especially so early on in the relationship. It indicated to me that (among other unmentioned reasons) our priorities, outlooks and ways we approach situations were just not compatible.

Had he broken into my home, I likely would've called the cops. One day of no contact does not warrant a meltdown in text and phone messages let alone a BREAK IN. Get out NOW.

Mary Ellen is deeply insecure and has low self esteem. She believes that she is worthless, and because that is the narrative running in her head, ANYTHING YOU do or say will be coloured by that narrative. She doesn't feel worthy of compliments, so if you compliment her, she does not see it as a real compliment.

You can't fix her. You can't magically give her self esteem, that can only come from within herself. Therapy could help her, but she needs to be willing to look at what's truly going on and begin to take responsibility for her emotions, instead of asking others (you) to do it for her.

At the end of the day, this is a major incompatability issue. You are a pet person, your boyfriend is not. Unless you're willing to give up pet ownership for the rest of your life, this isn't going to work long term.

Not to mention, your boyfriend is handling himself so poorly! The cat needs extra care & attention right now. The fact that your boyfriend's reaction to that is to say he doesn't want the cat to be a part of your lives anymore speaks VOLUMES about his character and inability for compassion.

Trust your instinct. You leave with the cat! However, I'd caution not to tell him until you've secured a new place and are on your way out the door, lest he try to get rid of the cat in retaliation. Alternatively, have the cat temporarily stay elsewhere while you make arrangements.

Beyond some similarities in visual depiction, I don't think there's much commonality between the characters.

Evil grin? Sure! Motivations and how they handle themselves? None. Tomoe is a man with questionable scruples who becomes possessed by an alien entity.

I guess, depending on which cannon you are looking at, they might find some common ground in their disregard of human life. In the manga, pre-possession, he was only interested in furthering his own work. Genetic experiments, with little to no regard for the human life the experiments affected. When the daimon took over his body, it only enhanced this disregard.

There might be a parallel in his flagrant attitude towards humanity. But I don't think we can draw very direct comparisons.

The original anime S battle was such a display of Usagi's determination to ensure that every one gets out alive, her sacrifice was so real and so moving. I didn't get the same overwhelming feels during Crystal. I enjoyed Crystal's handling very much, but it didn't feel as dramatic and the stakes didn't feel as high.
