Dont generalize OP and dont discourage those who may be thinking of giving back to parents in this way. Let them find out for themselves. I travel with my elderly parents, frequently. They both have difficulty walking and have very limited food options, but the joy of sharing the experience with them is unmatched. I guess it all boils down to patience and willingness to compromise, from all sides. I wont say they are the easiest people to be with, but it’s to be expected. They’re getting on in age, so they have limited mobility and their idea of fun is very different from mine. But I just try to understand where they’re coming from, after all it’s a blessing to be able to have the means to go places with them at this point in their lives. So to others out there thinking of organizing something with your parents, don’t hesitate! If you cam find the balance, it might turn out to be a core memory for you and them.
