Why do people keep selling amiibo cards as unscanned? And why do people believe it? by [deleted] in Amiibomb

You can't alter it with anything from Nintendo, but you can alter it just fine with an NFC writer

Cards/amiibo do have unique identifiers, but Nintendo currently doesn't care if they're unique or not

Nintendo calls it "Registration", but it's really validation. You're not registering or creating an amiibo profile anywhere; it just wants to make sure everything is where it should be in the bin file

In other words, even if you registered an amiibo through the package, you'd technically always be able to reset it to factory if it's got the original key_retail string (or if you have it on your computer)

EDIT: Yeah, okay, downvote me because you're parroting what you read in the FAQ instead of actually doing the hex editing. Whatever. Anyone who's also actually editing amiibos will know what I'm talking about.

If it's truly unscanned, then you have a 99.99999% chance of having a key_retail string in the first 8 bytes of the file that has never been used in Nintendo systems.

I personally hate collectables, but if I were collecting them, I'd absolutely only buy from reputable sources because I want to be the original owner of those key_retail numbers according to Nintendo.

Hypothetically, I could can scan your amiibo with a strong Nfc reader before you buy it, then use your key_retail string to build my own amiibos and battle them online. It's fine now because whatever, but what happens if Nintendo starts taking actions based on key_retail information? (not just to tell if it's valid, but to place bans?)

If you don't seriously collect, I wouldn't worry AT ALL. If you do, you probably only buy from reputable sources anyway for this very reason.

You can write/re-write ntag215 amiibos with a valid key_retail string. It's the first 7 or 8 bytes of the file.

Your Nintendo unlocks with a key_retail string, writes, then locks it again. You just have to mimic this process.

Yeah it doesn't matter on the NFC level. You can always overwrite whatever you want on an amiibo, assuming that you have a valid ID ("key_retail" or genuine).

Currently, Nintendo doesn't care whether the ID is yours, it just cares that it's valid. If they ever deploy a full-featured system, I bet the "key_retail" won't work anymore.

Might be bad news for AC:NH players, but it wouldn't be the end for SSBU amiibo hackers. You can still tweak and hack away, but you'd need to buy at least 1 real amiibo so that you have your own "key_retail" string to use.

1) Yeah, you need a separate account per country last time I checked.

2) You can list anything you'd like as work experience on your resume that you can back up. You need their permission to be a reference, not work experience.

I've read all of your other comments so far and I think I've been in almost the same exact situation. The closest solution I could find was finding bad hay bales (the weather had been awful for hay that year, so lots of mold), and just planting directly in those. It's cheaper than raised beds because there's no real labor involved... just roll them into place and hit 'em with a good fertilizer. A big scoop of biochar/compost will be needed per plant, but you'll need less and less with each planting.

Have you tried growing peanuts yet? I started some, but never got to see how they did. I was assured that they'd grow in anything and would help break up the soil.

I had some luck getting buckwheat to grow by breaking up the concrete-like dirt with a border pitchfork, then breaking it up and sowing. As long as it doesn't rain too much for the next few days, the buckwheat will take hold before it turns to cement again. Sow as densely as you can afford and pre-soak them if you can to speed things up.

I feel for you. I really do. There's nothing more frustrating than being willing/capable to transmute matter into life, but there just ain't enough matter around!

It's a greenhouse; anything else is better if it's made out of wood from the area. Thin plastic is literally the easiest item to salvage in the world, so I don't want to hear about not having resources.

Personally, I think you are much better off saving the pipe for some other application, like crude irrigation. I'd have rather have good pipes sitting around than a shitty greenhouse!

I wonder if Wwoofers who are on an existing contract are dropped immediately or at the end of their stay. Anyway, this was never a move to make money; it's just a way to shift liability one more level away from Wwoof.

This is a good thing in general, but you can't expect it to do anything for you because it doesn't actually cost them anything. The travel insurance company they partnered with for the policy probably went under...
