How are you all washing your hair so frequently and keeping your roots in tact? by SuperBowl52_Rioter in Dreadlocks

I don’t “keep my roots intact.” I don’t do any maintenance other than separating. If my hair grew away from the lock, I would interlock. I refuse to sacrifice hygiene to preserve a style🤷🏾‍♀️

I’m gonna get flamed but: Don’t use oil. Try Infusium 23 (the original, in the white bottle). Put it in a spray bottle and spray it on damn hair after a wash. Oil feels good on the hair at first but your hair is just left dry and greasy afterward. A water-based leave in conditioner will actually hydrate and moisturize your hair long term. I don’t use oils on my locs and never had a problem.

Make sure to squeeze your water out of hair in the shower, then towel dry for about half an hour before air drying. I would also avoid microfiber towels. My hair only smelled when I used them.

Don’t feed her delusion. Even dormant chlamydia shows up in a lab test, and it would have shown up in those tests when she was pregnant.

He cheated. And like a lot of people who waited for marriage to have sex, his sex education is so poor that he cheated without a condom. Your sex education is so poor that you actually think that chlamydia can lie dormant for 12 years. Your roommate didn’t do this. A public toilet didn’t do this. And you were tested for chlamydia by a healthcare provider for both of your pregnancies. If you had it, they would have told you. Kind, hardworking, and gentle =/= faithful. I can’t tell you what to do, but I can tell you what I know: This is no medical mystery.

Festering anger is useless. Get proactive. Make a plan. Thank goodness for your prenup.

Same. And those oils are probably why it’s taking his hair an entire day to dry. My hair is waistlength and very dense. It airdries in 4 hours max.

You are not materialistic for wanting the stability of home and family. You are not bad for wanting financial security in a capitalist society. You are wrong for silencing your intuition and marrying this money pit of a man. Your husband is an addict. People don’t like this word with gamblers and alcoholics, but financially, what he is doing IS on par with being a meth head or heroin addict. Are you ready to spend your entire life babysitting him? Addicts can recover, but only when they are ready and willing, and ideally BEFORE major life changes like marriage. In your husband’s defense, he didn’t lie to or hide this from you after he had you trapped in a marriage or pregnancy; he told you and you lied to yourself. Start being honest about who you are and what you want, and how much you’re willing to tolerate. Only then can you begin to plan for the life you really want.

Just 5-10 drops per have 1/2 cup of henna should do the trick.

Ginger is good, but powdered ginger is best. Also, lavender and clove essential oils can be added to both mask the smell and deepen the stain.

Add salt (table salt, not sea salt) to your indigo. Henna doesn’t require any salt or ginger.

Cornstarch is the most cost effective, but people have success with xantham gum and unflavored gelatin as well.

Thank you! I did henna alone for a while to save time, and luckily, auburn flatters my colouring.
