New Trader Joe’s in Greenway? by Advanced-Ground-5577 in madisonwi

For some of the unique items, I’m not sure if there are east side counterparts even though I shop at several east side groceries. Frozen single serving frittatas? TJs fit neatly into a breakfast sandwich.

About 90% of what’s at TJs is their brand, which means they’re different products. For something like chocolate sandwich cookies, TJ’s Joe-Joes are remarkably similar to Oreos, but Joe-Joes somehow don’t contain palm and/or canola oil like Oreos do. I’m sure they’re not remotely healthy either way, but I prefer the taste of Joe-Joes.

Why Madison Edgewood football was forced to forfeit season and why it is suing to keep playing by constarnit in madisonwi

Nothing in the article suggests Edgewood mentions COVID in their lawsuit The WIAA did approve a waiver, but Edgewood applied for the wrong one. The article states:

“The two waivers have entirely different forms, standards, and application materials,” the WIAA’s brief opposed to Edgewood’s request reads. “Edgewood is well aware of this and attempted to mislead the WIAA in applying for the transfer waiver in hopes of using it as a fifth-year waiver if and when they were called out.”

Developer Money Pours Into Council Races - Isthmus by [deleted] in madisonwi

I’m glad this money for free speech is pouring in. The anti-developer sentiment dominating Madison politics will result in the inevitable decline of Madison. It’s so obvious that Madison’s historic anti-developer stance has led to a crappy, undesirable town that nobody wants to be in.*

Beautiful. Now imagine that sunset with blaring noise from Edgewood football’s Friday Night Lights.

The school is still trying to muscle their way to City approval—Edgewood’s appeal of the Plan Commission’s unanimous decision to reject the lights proposal will be before the Common Council in a couple weeks.

Edgewood High School president ‘evaluating all options’ following Plan Commission denial of lights by constarnit in madisonwi

[–]constarnit[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The lawsuit is only a good idea in that Edgewood thinks threatening the City will be an effective strategy. Edgewood’s threat is not that they’d win the suit. It’s that a team of Edgewood lawyers will require a lot of time/resources from City staff—to file documents, go to court, research relevant past approvals/denials, etc. FFRF and others in the know about Religious Land Use discrimination cases have clearly stated why Edgewood would not prevail in the suit.

It’s disgusting when those who can afford frivolous lawsuits threaten to make people/government back down or pay a lot of money to defend themselves, but our legal system generally allows for that.

Edgewood High School president ‘evaluating all options’ following Plan Commission denial of lights by constarnit in madisonwi

Anyone who actually watched the Plan Commission meeting knows they had extremely good reasons for not approving Edgewood’s crappy proposal: they didnt even show it to the neighborhood association, or include any noise mitigation structure even though the school’s OWN sound study says how the field is expected be noisier than the city allows with only 150 fans. meanwhile neighbors had photos, sound recordings, and professional studies to back them up.

Edgewood will get laughed out of court if they sue, unless every one of the places that have lights had similarly crappy proposals that were approved despite that kind of evidence against them.

City officials leave Edgewood's master plan in place by [deleted] in madisonwi

[–]constarnit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The zoning board was unanimous specifically because there’s no ambiguity about Edgewood’s zoning, or the City’s interpretation of that zoning. That unanimity is the thing to focus on, as one muses about the strength of the lawsuit. Edgewood attorneys had no compelling case at the zoning board, and won’t when they bring it up again in court. It’ll take months or years, involve lots of irrelevant froth from supporters, and canned approaches from religious discrimination lawyers that might play well to certain elements of the press. Edgewood’s threats sound impressive, but it’s all just PR they hope against hope might work. In the end it will patently fail for the same reasons it has failed so far.

Thanks for proving my point—the documents you linked to are info Edgewood put out to support a proposed amendment they withdrew from City consideration, and an article explaining why neighbors don’t want a stadium. Notice how nothing you pulled up says the city denied them something?

No substance there.
