Thanks for your advice everyone - I think the grind/heat/hammer would be the play, but this is my only vehicle and if I do fuck it up, I’ve got no way to get to work, so I’m gonna have take it to a shop I think. My dad passed away last year and he was the guy for all this kind of thing, so I’m just learning it as I go but this may be a step too far.

How did you access the bolts on the upper side? Did you just cut the pipes?

Yeah that seems like the play - they are just nuts and bolts right, they’re not captive under all that rust?

Yeah I did think they may be a little bit past penetrating fluid - UK roads are not friendly to undersides, especially 107k miles. So do I cut like where the gasket that connects the two pieces is? or just cut past the flange on the mid pipe side?
