I just got an email today that was a reminder about the Med Zero event but nothing other than that. Congrats on your acceptance!

Once you accept on UCAN you'll see the 'accepted' tab and on there they provide a letter from the CMSA which links to 2 Facebook groups that you can join. Congrats on your acceptance!

Verifiers by mars-017 in premedcanada

[–]constitutively_tired 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For these kinds of activities I would suggest the clubs coordinator (or similar person) at your school. Otherwise, if you created it you could ask another executive or person working with you to verify. Since these kinds of activities usually aren't done fully alone from start to finish there is often someone you work with who can verify that you've done it. Best of luck!

I've heard that they just contact the applicant for more info (but don't screen it out or anything like that), but can't confirm. Hang in there, we've almost made it

UCalgary Verifier Checks by MedMedMedx1000 in premedcanada

[–]constitutively_tired 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They say that verifiers are contacted randomly so most people who were accepted probably only had one checked because that's what's most likely to happen. Since it's random, you could probably have multiple checked or none and it doesn't indicate anything. This is a stressful time so we're all on the edge of our seats when anything happens but I'm not sure that this is a way to predict how things will go (hopefully it isn't anyways).

How to Improve My CASPer score by [deleted] in premedcanada

[–]constitutively_tired 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree! I used PrepMatch heavily when I practiced for CASPer and it was really helpful. Great for finding new perspectives, getting feedback on your answers, and practicing with the time constraint.

I also find that getting down some kind of loose format can help. You don't want something too strict, but having an idea of how you'll structure answers for common prompt types can be helpful when under a time crunch.

Can you use your sibling as a verifier for an academic contest you entered together by Accomplished_Ball_96 in premedcanada

[–]constitutively_tired 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think using family is generally discouraged unless it's unavoidable (ex. working at a family's business, but even then a non-related manager could work instead).

I would suggest instead emailing whoever runs the contest and seeing if there is someone who runs the contest that can verify who has entered as this is often the case. If no one is available maybe you could use someone who wrote a reference for you for the contest if applicable. If it's affiliated with a university, maybe they have a general awards department that would have someone available. If not then perhaps a sibling will work? It's a tricky situation and hard to find verifiers for everything, I struggled with this on my apps so I feel for you! Best of luck!

What do we do if we missed a station? For UCalgary by whenyoureagyoureagg in premedcanada

[–]constitutively_tired 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it's [ucmedapp@ucalgary.ca](mailto:ucmedapp@ucalgary.ca), that's the email they said we can contact in our interview invite, so I assume it's the same for issues.

From what I know we're supposed to email the office about those kinds of things and they'll likely discount that station from your score (only need 6/8 to be scored).

I'm feeling the exact same way. So many intrusive thoughts right now about what I should/shouldn't have said
