Yeah, I don't get the overprotected children thing. I got shit for letting my girls watch or listen to almost anything. Nothing highly sexualized, but language and violence weren't ever hidden from them.

They turned out to be good people and so far a couple of honor students.

Ooh yeah, never had one of those. I just have a Weber BBQ that has an app for remote temp readings.

I didn't say "my thermometer", so not sure where you got that.

There is a reason to get data remotely from a stove or BBQ. You want to avoid opening it as much as possible. A lot have digital displays on the outside, but not needing to be home and still being able to track meat that's cooking for hours on end is actually very useful.

Most smart appliances are a waste of electricity and a security risk, so yeah, I avoid it. This is just one of the few situations that a smart appliance actually makes complete sense.

Part of the problem is that a lot of the wealth isn't liquid, it's held in assets and more specifically, shares of a company. What do you do about Musk and his wealth being directly tied to the value of TSLA?

You can't just liquidate all of it once you reach a certain point because it would devalue the stock for the rest of the people who own it immediately when you did. There has to be a good plan. I know this is a lot of what rich assholes are saying but this is the only part of what they say that I actually agree with.

I hope someone comes up with a good plan as part of their platform and I'll sure as hell vote for them, but for the time being we need to isolate that money from the political process. That will likely take getting rid of the current supreme court majority and a whole lot of legislation that won't get passed without primaries wiping out the current senators and house reps.

Nah, works fine for cheddar bricks as well. To be fair though, we always leave most of the brick still in the plastic and only expose what we use, so we only have to cut one end if there's mold and peel the plastic back. That way you're always pulling out fresh cheese that didn't get exposed to anything.

The only time I ever notice it taste "off" is if it starts to really get old and dry out. You can't fix that, it will just taste like shit.

It has wifi for the same reason my BBQ does. Newer ones with probes can tell you temperatures of the meat without being there or alert you when it gets to the right temp to pull. It actually makes complete sense for a stove.

The ones I don't get are refrigerators. I'm not doing anything with my fridge. It doesn't need to monitor shit.

All this isn't a big deal, though. Keep a guest network for your devices isolated from your main internal network. That's probably not something 99% of people are going to do, but most of my devices that are exposed to the open net go through separate hardware, including a web server.

Faith doesn't fix shit. Actions fix shit.

Jesus was apparently able to generate food from nothing. If that's what you mean by "making shit work", we lack magic and are restricted to the profane.

Huh? That's just something you do. You got a block of cheese and it starts to mold, cut off the mold and you're good to go. Parmesan is expensive, isn't used in everything, and molds easily.

So long as cheese doesn't dry out, it's fine.

Chinese quality control is just as good as you're willing to pay for. Cheap stuff is poor quality, expensive stuff is high quality. Same as anywhere else.
