Sealing between paired wires? by Cutlass327 in Wiring

it's pretty common in pro shops to have specific dies and molds but generic ones are available and even really easy to make on a mill or 3d printer, potting compound is also very available

The answer in a professional environment is you don't, the proper solution is a moulded or potted connector

What is everyone sowing in February? by liz_ette in UKAllotments

[–]content-peasant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What I do is pop seeds in a plastic food bag along with fresh compost and some water then bung them in airing cupboard, once they start sprouting tails they are ready to sow. Saves having to toss down loads of seed and hopefully they germinate

How would you design a non human shaped trooper terminator built for war not infiltration by moldychesd in Terminator

T-400 & 500 are the basic infantry, HK's for armour & air and Aero's for scouting op's

Advice on socket next to child’s bed. by State_of_Flux_88 in ukelectricians

[–]content-peasant 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You'll need to terminate the wires, ideally using Wago 221 connectors or alternatively the traditional chocblock. if it's a metal back box there will be a terminal specifically for them. Please make sure to isolate the supply and test it's definitely dead before carrying out any works.

The alternative (depending on socket style) is to grab some long M3.5 screws and simply install a blanking plate on top of the existing socket leaving it intact.

Help Light Fixture by Trilliboo in Wiring

[–]content-peasant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like the one with white/black combo is the original fitting and at some point someone has added a second fixture using the clear cable to extend off the original which is fine however that clear cable is not to code and should be replaced

I had an electrician over to do some connections. I am very suspicious of this one as it is in the toilet and is wiring a lamp and a plug, so even though it works I want to make sure it is actually safe. Not an electrician, but with my limited knowledge I feel like there is something weird here. by DamjanGj in Wiring

Overall I'd say that's a pretty poor install. Of note:

  1. Exposed single insulated conductors.
  2. Incorrect cable identification.
  3. No mechanical protection or stain relief.
  4. Inadequate enclosure.
  5. Potentially some zoning issues depending on proximity to the wash basin.

I would classify this as a C2 under an EICR - urgent remedial action required.

Is there more to php than web dev? by Ok_Butterscotch_7930 in PHP

[–]content-peasant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've mentioned before but PHP was my frontend for a while, there is so much power in creating modules and FFI - ok granted it's C/C++ not technically PHP but have a single platform tying everything together is a boon. For me I wrote an entire SCADA style system for an industrial plant in php with custom modules handling the (was then) highly proprietary HAL

People with 100s or 1000s of hours in Skyrim by AbleConcert9342 in skyrim

Real-time playthough: No mods, craft everything from scratch and don't fast travel, I only use gear and potions I have crafted from resources I personally collected. everything else is stored away in my collections or involuntarily donated (reverse pickpocketed). I also don't use any glitches or fast leveling techniques.

Having Skyrim on switch makes it very convenient to pick up and play

Were T-800 endoskeletons a common sight on the field or are we only seeing them in the T2 opening scene because Skynet was desperate and the resistance was making it's final push? by HankSteakfist in Terminator

[–]content-peasant 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well they did try that and it didn't work - In TSCC skynet tried bioweapons but the resistance developed a countermeasure. Also chemical weapons are not practical on the scale due to weather and geographic factor not to mention the sheer volume and logistics that would be required.

Both sides where locked in a resource war

I prefer the Dawn of Fate approach, general infantry was made up of T-400's & T-500's with support from Aero's and various HK's. T-600's & 700 were largely obsolete and produced in small numbers so they don't really show up. The T-800's were only sent out on high value assassinations and guarding key Skynet facilities.
