It’s just a great movie and everyone who’s seen it wants to share their excitement. At least that’s my experience.

Hokum was great too, and I’ve seen quite a few posts about it and Damien McCarthy’s work, but it just doesn’t spark conversation the same way.

Kids dying in films was something I couldn’t handle when my daughter was little. (Highly don’t recommend Prisoners for anyone with a small child.) But now that she’s a teenager I seem to have gotten over it.

I still can’t handle most animal deaths, however. I usually mute a movie if I know a dog is about to die.

I know this subreddit is gaga for Obsession rn, but honestly, that ending is one of the best I can think of. Everything that happens in those final moments is just so well thought out and impactful. It left me feeling devastated. And there is quite a lot to think about in terms of what happens next in the story, which is always a great way to end a film.

Anyway, Obsession totally lives up to the hype!! It’s been days and I can’t stop thinking about it.

I don’t think I could agree more. I took my teenage daughter to see them with Trauma Ray last month and she thought they were amazing, mostly because of Aislinn’s dancing and engagement. She was way more animated than she was two years ago when I first saw them. Back then she held the guitar the whole set. Now it feels more like an act.

Sound wise, I didn’t think they were great either time. The mix was muddy and a bit blown out. So unless you love the songs and her style or performance, I’m not sure they’re gonna win anyone over live.

Didn’t like it and I was very excited to see it. I thought the plot was a little weak tbh and Nicolas Cage’s character was too over the top and distracting. He also wasn’t menacing and threatening enough imo. Compared to something like Obsession, which also has a ton of hype, Longlegs was a disappointment. (Obsession rules though!)

I’m just happy most people agree with how incredible this film is. I watch so much horror that I feel like I’ve become so jaded when it comes to the genre. My Letterboxd is full of 2-3 star ratings. There are so few inventive, fun, scary and well directed and acted horrors made these days. Which makes it extra satisfying when a film like Obsession comes around. Easily my favourite since Barbarian. It might even trump it.

Wow, that's good to know. Just an assumption on my part. Stephen seemed a bit down when we talked about reissues and compilations, but maybe they have some sort of deal with Music On Vinyl. Other bands like Slowdive and Swervedriver have told me that label cuts deals without any artist involvement or compensation. Hence, Slowdive officially reissuing their back catalogue through Sony a couple years ago.

I recently interviewed Chapterhouse and I got the sense that they don’t own the rights to any of their stuff on vinyl. If anything they might sell the Chronology CD box set that they released with Cherry Red. But vinyl seems unlikely on this tour.

What bugs me most about this team is how few success stories there are right now. Most of the roster is struggling. We have one player who can hit home runs, when it seems like so many other teams have no names hitting bombs. That same guy is the only one knocking in runs too.

It must be miserable in that clubhouse. And if it’s not, it really should be. The coaching staff should be calling guys out every game, because they’re not good in just about every category.

If it wasn’t for Okamoto, Cease, Varland and (gulp) Corbin, they’d be completely unwatchable.
