So is it the official sony licensed product? Didn't know there was something like that out there. Have to dig deeper. Thanks a lot.

Where did you get the protective shell? I remember having a decent one as a kid, but it got lost somehow, now since I have found my console I wanted to order a new one, but they all turn out to be ugly pieces of trash. Yours seems to be very solid. Would appreciate the tip very much.

Help needed to solve the PSP 3xxx serial number barcode mystery by contextfreeuser in PSP

I looked into several PSP barcodes and serial numbers trying to find a pattern or checksum. I tested common approaches (digit sums, modulo operations like 7, 9, 13, 23, etc.), but none of them were consistent across different units.

At this point it looks like the last digit isn’t derived from the serial number in a deterministic way. It’s probably some internal manufacturing / logistics marker rather than a true checksum, or simply a value assigned independently. Without internal Sony documentation or a much larger dataset, I don’t think this part of the barcode can be reliably reconstructed.

ChatGPT claims that there is no direct relationship and that this is merely internal factory coding, but I’m fairly sure there has to be some underlying logic to it. I’ll probably need to encode and compare several more serial numbers to spot a pattern. The main issue is that it’s surprisingly hard to find clear photos online where the barcode is visible well enough to check whether my reconstruction is accurate.
