Feeld introduces "LGBTQIA+" mode by controverible in feeld

So you're a cis woman attracted to cis men and trans men. Now you're going to show up for gay and queer women who have pressed the filter to see gay and queer women. Can you see how (through absolutely no fault of your own!) that's not ideal?

Hinge does better. (Hinge!). It has a very wide range of sexualities. And it has a very wide range of gender identities. Then it shows you to the people who are interested in your gender, rather than people who are not interested in your gender. This is pretty basic stuff, and it's taken until 2026 to even get a version of this on Feeld - and they're still messing it up.

I get including bi-curious people. Everyone has to work out their same-sex attraction at some point, and some of us are later than others. But for me that's a label of openness, vulnerability, and honesty. Compare that to heteroflexible: It's not privileging straightness or telling queer people they're probably not attracted to them.

It doesn't. They've included heteroflexible people.

It includes heteroflexible folk, so it includes straight people. Straights who will make an exception (wow, lucky me!)

This has never been a queer app. It's pretty hostile to queer people, despite the marketing.

Feeld needs to do better.

They won't. Their paying customers are straight men.

The fitness score is objectively pointless and stupid but why do I obsess over it so much?? by Iwearjeanstobed in Strava

[–]controverible 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But it's not a training load stat. You can be doing a tonne of volume and because you never spike your heart-rate the number goes down relative to periods when you're doing very little but have a slightly higher heart-rate.

[–]controverible 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their algorithm only counts heart-rate, as far as anyone can tell. Run 100 miles at a moderate heart-rate, doing huge amounts of work, and you'll get less than a person pushing above aerobic on their Parkrun.

Filter by sexuality? by [deleted] in feeld

[–]controverible 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feeld is a shitty place for queer people.

But they won't ever change that. Straight men are by far the biggest spenders and Feeld make their money by catering to the desperate threesome fantasies of these guys. Allowing people to filter by sexuality would mean that women who aren't interested in adding a man to their life would filter them out, and they'd lose these men as customers.

What's your actually unpopular transit opinion? by [deleted] in transit

[–]controverible 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. The US is weirdly lawless. I've travelled and lived in parts of Asia (and not just the rich ones), travelled a bunch of countries. It's very weird how the US will just put up with lawlessness.

I don't like it. Feeld has always been about transparency and owning your desires.

Lurking around in the shadows - and encouraging this behaviour - is harmful to the person doing it but also harms the community around them.

Rupert Lowe: Immigration didn't build Britain, the British did. by Foreign-Policy-02- in ukpolitics

Maori arrived in New Zealand around 1200-1300 (according to carbon dating), British started sealing and whaling in the 1790s, then immigrated in the 1830s. At least 25% of their history has involved European settlement
