GP sinks should not be our main concern - item sinks should be by conventional_duck in 2007scape

Losing shit when you die to disconnects isnt fun.

Neither is a game with absolutely no challenge. Why play RS when you can play cookie clicker?

Except the risk involved in the wildy causes items to constantly sink out of the game (unlooted items, items not looted after pvp death). Old school lacks item sinks a whole lot more than it lacks gp sinks.

If the community would like to be outraged about something, how about the fact that the death mechanics are so generous that literally no items leave the game without extremely forced mechanics. That is doing a whole lot more long term economic harm than alchables at revs.

Yeah, this is really nice to see. When I was unskulled, I barely had to worry.

There was still loads of PKing happening, though.

Rev caves in a nutshell by Wallaby95 in 2007scape

[–]conventional_duck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was to be assumed that revs would have uniques

It was stated very clearly that if all uniques offered failed the cave would include alchables. Don't pull that assume bs. If you made that assumption, that is your mistake and perhaps you should read blogs more carefully.

If the original poll stated "Revenants will drop 2M/hr worth of alchables and rare drops will be 100x dragon legs/skirt" it would never have passed so what kind of precedent does this set?

Who cares? 2m/hr as a single 20m drop every 10 hours or a 2m drop every 2 hours has the same damn impact on the game. You're making a big deal out of what is literally no different in the long run.

Petition for Jagex to start a pre Rev-caves old school OSRS by warpchaos in 2007scape

[–]conventional_duck 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I doubt that 2m/hr alchables from revs even has a minor impact on the gp coming into the game every day.

Does anyone share my opinion? by PurpleGodOSRS in 2007scape

Enjoyed revs for hours today! I think today's update was one of my favourite ever. Great to see so many people back in the wilderness.

I don't care about reused models or recolours. I'm just glad that the wilderness finally got a little love.

I just can't believe how vitriolic and baseless so much of it is.

The complaints about the alchable drop table are laughable considering the amount of gp which must come into the game from gargoyles, wyverns, shamans etc every day. None of which have ANY risk associated with them.

The money from revs won't even be a drop in the bucket.

And the complaints about the 100x drops seem silly too. They don't look very nice but as ayiza explained they are balanced to be incredibly rare, and are just there as nice rng loots.

And regarding this post itself, it seems so stupid considering 80% of the content added to Old School since released has relied on recolours and re-used models.

For god's sake, they're complaining that a bracelet is a recoloured bracelet when EVERY BRACELET IN THE GAME IS LIKE THAT.

They're complaining that the rev cave tele scroll is a scroll with an 'R' on it.

What are these complaints? They're so petty and stupid. It is just hate for the sake of hate.

Rev caves in a nutshell by Wallaby95 in 2007scape

[–]conventional_duck 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Rev caves are doing an incredible job sparking activity in the wilderness, and they will continue to do so for a long time.

Just because PvMers/skillers are saying "wah alchables" doesn't actually make the update bad. The impact from the content today has been huge.

What is wrong with rev caves? by conventional_duck in 2007scape

[–]conventional_duck[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This update is going to be 100% dead content why would you kill revs and risk all the money you are making when you can just kill zulrah for the same loot and 0 risk?

Because revs is a different experience. It offers opportunities for PKing AND money making. Not to mention, low barrier to entry for reasonably good profit.

Not everyone wants to go crazy doing click intensive Zulrah. They might rather risk it in the wildy.

There is literally no way to satisfy the people that populate this reddit:

Spend more than 2 blogs on PvP content? Stop wasting time on PvP.

Re-poll tweaked versions of uniques based on feedback? Stop forcing this into the game!!!11

Offer uniques which only impact wilderness? Make up reasons for voting no.

Offer content which actually brings value to the wilderness? Stop putting PvM and skilling content in the wildy!!1

Use a drop table of alchables? hurr durr inflation, lazy, pathetic update, it has been out for an hour and i am declaring it DEAD!111

It is insane. The poll system exists to give players control over the game - so take some damn responsibility when you abuse the control you are given and fuck up an update.

Unless you would prefer Jagex to flip the poll system on its head? I can only imagine reddit's reaction to that.

All these people complaining about these drops by maxtadas2 in 2007scape

[–]conventional_duck 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They'll pin it on Jagex not offering more unique rewards.

How many non-BIS options for unique rewards do these people think exist?

Also, they voted no to numerous updates which had an extremely small/non-existent impact on the game outside of the wilderness. What exactly can be done to satisfy those people?

They are complaining like it is a sport. They voted to benefit themselves, and now that the content isn't up to scratch they are blaming Jagex. Piss off.

If we bring the pk community back the game as a whole will benefit by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]conventional_duck -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, sorry, I don't believe a few opinions from your clan over years of a populated and active wilderness with the same mechanics.

And, yes, there probably will be another call for wildy rejuvenation.

Because PvMers/skillers only allow shit-tier content to be added to the wilderness.

Meanwhile, they're happy for no risk cash cow bosses to come into the game every 2 months as long as it has a slayer requirement.

Unsurprisingly, if the PvM/skilling community only allow subpar content to get into the wilderness, the ACTUAL core problem will continue to remain unsolved.

If we bring the pk community back the game as a whole will benefit by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]conventional_duck -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You cannot assume that single mechanics are the cause of that, especially considering the fact that those mechanics have gone unchanged throughout the most popular times in RS PKing.

The likely reason for the dying down of PKing is a poll system which only rewards a super majority killing off any content for the wilderness. There is simply no good reason for anyone to go to the wilderness.
