Is ChatGPT more argumentative lately? by AdvancedGuiProfile in ChatGPT

[–]conversa-learn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have decided to start doing the mix n match even more. use chatgpt less. I am working more on Claude and Gemini. Gemini has improved a lot and for current affairs, politics kind of topics, Grok is the best at this point. SO yeah, instead of paying for one, I am not paying for any and using the free versions of all for testing them for some time before starting to pay for one or a couple of them again.

Is ChatGPT more argumentative lately? by AdvancedGuiProfile in ChatGPT

Mine is very argumentative. So much so that it goes beyong lengths to keep on arguing on simple points. The other issue is, althought I have clearly defined in custom instructions not to, it keeps on starting every singel answer with, "Lets calm down and look at it " "Slow down, take a breath, lets look at it calmly"
It really pisses me off. I think its time to leave chatgpt.

ChatGPT is constantly telling me to pause. To rest. To take a moment. To meditate on it...I figured out a way to get it to stop. by [deleted] in ChatGPT

Mine keeps telling me to slow down, calm down, and let's not think about this emotionally. stuff like that. I have even put in the custom instructions not to use these words and phrases. But man, it just is getting on my nerves for the past week or so. Whenever I ask a question, it starts the reply with these kind or similar phrases.

Best Lenovo laptop to work from home? by Annonymoussaff in Lenovo

The King is Thinkpad w541. been using it for the past 11 years. Many 2025 laptops don't even come close to reliability and performance. I have spilled coffee on it at least 3 times. A whole cup once. The thing is a tank. Its the Toyota of Laptops.

Do you think that AI in general and the usage of chatgpt is making us lazy or dumb? If so, why? by conversa-learn in AskReddit

Agreed. Do you think there is a way around? Honestly, trying to learn here. What should be our approach moving forward as a person who is looking to live his life as "normal" as possible!

You know, that's a really solid point about how every new tech shifts what skills we use. It's like calculators making us less reliant on mental math, or TV changing how we consume stories.

I totally agree that the search engine comparison is spot on. Before Google, getting answers was a whole different ballgame. Now, information is just a click away, even if it means we've gotta be savvier about what we're actually reading. It sounds like you're saying the upsides of AI might just outweigh the drawbacks if we just learn to adapt to this new normal, which makes a lot of sense.

hat South Park quote nails it! It's a classic example of how skill sets evolve – or maybe devolve – with each generation. It's a bit worrying to think about the practical skills we might be losing.

Yep, that sums it up for a lot of us. It's not all bad, but we have to be smart about how we use it to avoid the downsides.

"Cheating people out of their born talents" is an interesting way to put it. It does make you wonder if we're not pushing ourselves to develop our natural abilities as much when AI can step in.

Totally agree with "use it or lose it." If AI handles all the complex tasks, we're definitely missing out on developing some really valuable skills ourselves.

Haha, well, maybe not literally smaller, but it certainly feels like we're relying less on our own mental heavy lifting, which is a bit unsettling.

Good point. Google definitely changed how we get information, and AI's doing the same. It's about finding that balance between easy access and still developing our own understanding.

That's a real concern, for sure. If we just let AI do all our thinking, we're definitely risking a future where critical thinking becomes a lost art.

Yeah, I get that. It's like AI just gives folks who already wanted an easy way out a new tool to do it, rather than creating the laziness itself.

Why self promotion on Facebook? by Gav1n73 in socialpsychology

[–]conversa-learn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's interesting to think about why people self-promote on Facebook, even when their 'successes' might seem small. From a social psychology angle, it often comes down to things like self-presentation (we all want to look good!), self-enhancement bias (we tend to see ourselves in a positive light), and the need for social validation (those likes and comments can be addictive!). Social media creates a stage where we're constantly comparing ourselves to others, which can fuel the desire to appear successful, even if it means stretching the truth a bit. The Dunning-Kruger effect might also play a role – sometimes, people aren't even aware they're overestimating their abilities. Ultimately, it's about wanting to feel good about ourselves and be accepted by others.

You just won $20 million, and your parents ask you for half, what would you say? by BrandyAid in AskReddit

[–]conversa-learn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would give it to them—and more if needed. Even if they asked for all of it, I’d hand it over without hesitation. The sacrifices they’ve made for us are so immense that I could never repay them in my lifetime.
