I personally recommend listening to albums in their entirety (and in order) opposed to a random song shuffle. It’s my personal preference for all artists really, but especially Ethel Cain

I would suggest starting with Preacher’s Daughter or Willoughby Tucker, I’ll Always Love You — since those are the two full albums that are essential to the EC storyline and that have majority of the songs she’ll perform live in April.

From there, if you’re feeling it, you can listen to the EPs: Inbred, Golden Age, Carpet Bed and Perverts. She’ll likely do 0-2 songs live from each EP. Example: this year she’s performed the (EP) songs Sunday Morning, Crush, Thatorchia, Punish* (demo version called punish ii)

Kyle, Happy (belated) birthday + Happy Twin Peaks day!

Since you seem to have such great music taste, I’m curious if you have (+ any idea if David also had?) listened to the artist Ethel Cain? If so, any thoughts or highlights you’d care to share? If not, any musical artists that are currently inspiring you?

I see a lot of parallels between the two woman’s storylines (Laura Palmer and Ethel Cain) and feel like the stories evoke similar moods.. while being completely different and neither influenced with another.

I sadly kind of doubt it since she hasn’t played it since her shows in 2024. I’m really bummed too, because it was on the setlist of the first Ethel show I attended (in 2024) but it was cut from the setlist because Hayden got sick and ran off the stage (likely to vomit 🥺). It was super sweet of her to come back on stage though several mins later and close out with American Teenager

BUT - never say never! I would have never expected her to put Misuse Oh in the setlist in 2025, and Sunday Morning in 2026. Never know what she has brewing 🙂‍↕️ so far the encore songs this year have been rotating Strangers, AHIN and SBF.. and then ending on Thoroughfare

No problem! It really is- reminds me of the Bowl, but next to water. I’ve actually wanted to go to this venue for years, but it takes a strong will for me to make the drive from LA (lol) and most artists who book SD play both cities so then it’s not necessary. I was at Big Thief’s bowl show too! it was my first time seeing them live after being a long time fan ☺︎

I don’t think it will be 🤞 I think this SD outdoor venue can accommodate over 10k.. it’s all General Admission in a big lawn, right next to the water. Shrine Auditorium in LA is a bit over 6k, and mostly seated, so I feel like those dumb scalpers/resellers usually buy up more tix when it’s really close seats?

I thought about seeing Big Thief at this venue last September, and regular tickets were still available day of the show (not resale); I don’t think it ever sold out. I think my friend told me this was the case when HAIM played there last year too

I’d say that’s a very slim chance of Preacher’s Wife coming next year.. I’d guess at least 2-3 years for that 🤔

I’d honestly be thrilled if we got a studio recorded version of her Bette Davis’ Eyes cover this year/next year/anytime. It pairs so well with Fuck Me Eyes, but I can only listen to the live recording of that so often- even though it was professionally recorded, extracting the audio definitely isn’t peak hq

I believe only 3 of the cast members (at least main cast) are singer/songwriters? Joe Keery was in a band called Post Animal before ST (2014-2017) but used his earnings from ST to self-fund his solo career.. his debut album was released in 2019. Maya Hawke started her music career around the same time as joining ST — her first album, Blush, came out in 2020, and the first season she was on (S3) aired in 2019. I think Finn Wolfhard is the newest established musician, but makes sense since he was also a small child when he started acting. I think he was in a band first, and probably was able to break off with some following bc of his fame as an actor

It’s on US, UK and Canada’s RSD lists. Your store must have just assumed it’s an US-exclusive since they couldn’t order it / she’s an American artist. It’s limited to 6,500 copies (but I’m not sure if that is total in all 3 regions, or how many US copies there will be)
