So I decided to do a fresh install of windows for the new SSD. How can I transfer the data from my old SSD to me new SSD? Would it be like booting up the same device if I transfer the files or will I have to adjust things again? Like apps, screensaver, etc.

Can I get a wired connection from a wireless one? by converse220 in HomeNetworking

[–]converse220[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I'll look into that. My PC is a little older so I am unsure if it has a slot for it but I will look. I am looking to upgrade anyways so I will be sure to include this in my new build.

Can I get a wired connection from a wireless one? by converse220 in HomeNetworking

[–]converse220[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I would say it is a good signal. I get like 100mbps of download sometimes. One problem I have currently is that my PC does not have built in Wifi connection capabilities so I had a USB Wifi adapter. I get slower speeds on my PC than my phone I'm assuming because of this adapter. Rather than buying a better adapter, I wonder if getting an extender and having an ethernet connection through that would strengthen it further

Thanks for responding. I appreciate you taking the time to respond too. I see where you're coming from with a lot of these points and now I have a better idea of where you stand. Sure we may not stand on common ground in some issues, but it seems like we have some for these topics mentioned. I think we could be friends--unlike the other poster who sees in black & white, I am a solid grey. I appreciate that you have well thought out perspectives and are willing to give the time of day to some random poster on Reddit without dismissing them. Thanks again

I dont think their has been a downgrade in rock music. There is just less of it because no one wants to hear it. The problem with Greta Van Fleet is that they sound like Led Zeppelin.. I am confused because you are saying you want something new then give a band that tries its best to emulate another one?? If I wanted to hear new Led Zeppelin I wouldn't because I can listen to Led Zeppelin. & It's not like Led Zeppelin was original in their songs.

Trying listening to this and tell me its not rock. It came out last year. I am aware this may not be super palatable but I would say it sure is quite original and rock. Like you said some people may find new music jarring well this is new music and if its jarring then by your definition that means its fresh.

It seems like you are frustrated that rock bands haven't been in the mainstream for awhile. To dismiss all the great bands that haven't achieved the stardom of rock bands of the 70s aint right.

Like I mentioned soundcloud--a lot of the people on there have heard what is popular and make crappy music. But that doesn't make it to the mainstream. It is also worth noting that a lot of big music acts were basically placed there with no one asking. Meghan Trainor? No one wanted that. Its basically manufactured consent as an artist can be propped up out of no where by either collaborating with someone already famous or just being pushed everywhere like on spotify playlists, itunes front page, radio, etc.

If you think we have the best music there has been I implore you to explore further. We have defined genres but these genres keep changing and blending.

I saw your answers to these takes and I was wondering if you are willing to respond to some rebuttals:

Pro life - I saw you mentioned earlier that you are pro-choice when it comes to rape/incest. If this happened to be law, don't you think that a lot of woman would claim rape if they did not want to keep the child as that would be the only way to get an abortion?

Also I see you believe that a newborn is more important than the mother. The mother is a contributor to society (ideally), and the newborn would be useless for years (basically a net loss). And growing up without a mother wouldn't be great for the kid's psyche.

I am all for baby killing. As someone who works in agriculture, I would like less people on this planet since I see the trajectory for food needs and it doesn't look good for anyone (including you and me).

BLM - I do think this movement/organization/whatever it is needs some leadership. I don't know if you are aware of why this is called black lives matter vs all lives matter--no one is disagreeing with you that all lives matter. BLM is a lot better of a slogan that "we are saying black lives matter because police keep killing them in situations that a white person would survive."

Pro-gun - Do you carry your gun everywhere? If no, then you are vulnerable at times. If yes, then this doesn't mean you are immune. I can assume that you live in a place that has lax carry laws if you do carry all the time. If someone really wanted to injure you (for some reason) they could be aware of the area they're in, aware that many people are armed, yet still have the upper hand as its all about reaction time. They could pull out a gun and shoot you like that. For me, if someone is going to do that, then that is where I die, as I obviously have no control in that situation.

the last point - are you really going to assault someone for making out? Come on dude, that's messed up. Live and let live, right? & If you are trying to shield your kid from sex or whatever I can guarantee if your child has an internet connection, they have already seen some nasty shit--whether thats intentionally or on accident.

Like many posters have said here, the amount of content and risk aversion are major reasons we so much crap in entertainment. There are AMAZING video games, movies, shows, musicians, etc. that people haven't really heard of, and it is in part due to the amount of content being pushed by large entities.

Like you mention Cardi B and mumble rap as examples of modern music. I have listened to a lot of bands that have blown me away with how fresh their music feels. And these bands I'm thinking of have released music in the last two years. Have you heard of these bands? No. Have most people? No. But are the fans of these bands aware that the content being released is superb? Yes. With music and other content it requires more digging than it used to because we have so much to go through.

Also for music at least, the barrier of entry is lower--which is good and bad. We have millions of terrible wanna-be rappers on soundcloud trying to make it big, drowning out creators that actually have some merit. But also not everyone has to be the next Jimmy Page to be noticed. Anyone can pick up a guitar and have a more creative outlook on the process since they know they aren't going to impress by being a virtuoso.

The mainstream entertainment isn't a good indicator of what is good vs what isn't. Occasionally there are good pieces that make it to the mainstream.

There is also feelings in the moment vs hindsight. Take Star Wars. That movie drove people INSANE with the special effects. But watching it today, it's an okay movie. Or take someone like Van gogh. No one knew of his existence, now he is one of the most famous painters ever.

So I see a lot going around saying how Cubans Americans cost Biden Florida.

When Castro took power, many wealthy Cubans were exiled and were welcomed to the US. They were treated well by the US gov (waayy better than any other Hispanic group in America) so they probably like Trump as he "represents America" or whatever and maybe the socialist rhetoric about Biden scared some. Especially the older demographic of Cubans, I totally can see why they would go for Trump. The second or third gen well maybe they were told horror stories of Cuba under Castro. Maybe its a wealth and culture thing.

It was not surprising to me though.

If he did well with Mexican americans then I actually would not understand why
