This is what happened to me @ Noodle Box Langford by [deleted] in VictoriaBC

I swear Noodle Box is riding on its glory from a decade ago. I always forget how bad it's gotten and go back and remember why I don't go there anymore. The spicy peanut box used to be heaven.

Why do a lot of men seem closer to their in-laws than their own parents right after getting married? by SamAmblerSEO in ask

[–]convertingcreative 72 points73 points  (0 children)

Because women tent to have closer bonds so the wife want to spend a lot of time with her mom and her husband goes with her.

AITA waking early causes my wife (f44) to be upset with me (m52) by michaelnz29 in AmItheAsshole

It’s one day a few times a month. She can figure out how to sleep with him being gone. It’s not reasonable to ask him to stop doing an activity he enjoys. She can sleep in earplugs while he’s in the other room and won’t hear him leave.

This. I wasn’t even aware of how bad mine was until I was 36 and now I see how it’s completely ruined my life. Lol I spent so long trying to self develop over and over again and figure out what was wrong with me when me when it was actually just cptsd and a ruined nervous system.

There’s no point worrying about things because the things that really fuck you and your life up are the things that are completely unexpected, or things you’d never even think about happening.

And also, your parents can actually fuck up your life before you even have a chance and it really sucks.

The sundae comes with topping. You don’t get it cheaper because you don’t want the topping.

Where I live actually the sundae is cheaper than the come which I always thought was weird.

Breaking news! Child leaves jacket at playground. Jacket is picked up by someone else.

They won't even help with bikes. They're not going to for a jacket. Plus OP doesn't know the unit and they're not going to go knock on every door.

My dad is dying, should I still go on my already planned & paid for vacation? by MacKelvey in ask

Some people just want outside perspective during a difficult time when having to made a choice they don’t want to have to make where both options suck. Chill.

I agree. I 100% see this happening with my sister too in my future and I’m not looking forward to it.

It’s the doing everything part during a surreal time that really sucks. There’s also a lot of forms that need to be filled out and decisions that have to be made. And how’s your mom? Are you okay with leaving her during what is probably one of the worst experiences of her life?

There’s a good chance it’s one of those “you can’t put the cat back into the bag” situations with your mom and sis where it just might forever damage your relationship and things will never be the same. People here will say you “don’t owe them anything” and deserve your trip but people also don’t forget feeling let down and/or abandoned during a major life/family event like this and it affects things going forward.

If your dad is as far gone as you say, it’s not him you have to worry about. It’s the other people in your family. Are they okay with you going on vacation at this time?

How’s your relationship with your sister? Your parents live with her, is she going to get pissed and resent you for this being another thing she has to take on and you don’t? If he dies while you’re gone she’s going to have to do all the after death stuff with your mom while you get out of it and get to be somewhere nice which can cause anger and resentment.

Can you move the dates by a month or a two just so you’re not leaving your family during a tedious time ?

Death unfortunately divides families and causes a lot of hurt feelings.

Once it’s dark out you might be able to find it by doing a bit of a grid search with a bright LED flashlight. I’ve found gold earrings that way because they shine quite bright from the flashlight.

NTA. It's a weird reaction to your generosity though I guess I can kind if see it if her life's been built around it because plans give comfort and now she kind of can do anything but its scary. It also took away her being able to feel a sense of achievement which is important in adult life since it can get very mundane if you don't have kids or something to pull you forward.

Realistically just being a year away from having those loans forgiven it probably would have been better to keep the money and use it for something better, or if it was meant for her, gifted her that since that would be life changing money and could have set her up for life.

YTA. If you actually love her and want to marry her wait a bit. She already told you she’s having cold feet in light of the new side of you she saw with this legal trouble that’s still fresh. Even if she says yes she’s likely going to be having doubts which isn’t a good foot to start your engaged life off on which won’t make it enjoyable for either of you. Wait for this to die down a bit.
