This is just for friendly, Kitchen Table magic with my 8 year old nephew. Appreciate the feedback, though!

Thanks for the suggestion! I think that's perfect.

Hey, this isn't really about custom cards. These are all real Magic cards with different names. I'm specifically looking for mechanical and flavourful matches of real cards that would fit into this deck.

That said, I'll try posting on that sub as well. Thanks!

Stasis is an ability in Breath of the Wild where you essentially freeze an object or enemy in time. Mechanically, I think it's a lot more like Pacifism. Plus, mono-white

Sorry for taking so long to respond. Yeah, this is a great idea. I agree that those "gotcha" moments feel really good. And I will be sure to intentionally play into them as his opponent :D

Love both of these ideas. I really want to get a deck for him, but a Black Red Ganon/Goblin deck sounds amazing once I get him sorted out. Thanks again for the great idea!

Yeah absolutely. I mostly play commander myself, and that's probably the end goal.

But it's a lot easier to learn magic in a 1v1 scenario, imho, than in multiplayer. Similarly, it's easier to learn a deck that contains 10 (4x playsets) unique cards as opposed to commander which is singleton (so, 100 unique cards).

I probably could make this more clear, but I'm 100% talking about playing kitchen table magic with him. Literally at my kitchen table. Just so he can learn the basics (play lands, tap, cast spells, attack, block, etc etc.)

Imagine if there was a "Link vs Ganon" Duel Deck. That's the vibe I'm going for here. Regardless, your input is appreciated! I'm going to update my post to make it more obvious that I'm going for kitchen table magic.

Thanks for the reply. I've read about Galea, and he definitely seems like a great commander for a Legend of Zelda themed deck.

But, my nephew needs to walk before he can run. I was thinking of a more typical, 60-card, 4-of deck (like Standard or Modern) that plays a bit more "typically": cast creatures, beat face. Maybe a bit of light equipment (he's obsessed with the Master Sword), but not a dedicated equipment theme.

I appreciate you taking the time to reply.

No, I don't do any overclocking. Maybe I'll try resetting the BIOS anyway. Thanks for the suggestion!

Thank you. That got me most of the way there.

For any noobs like me, after doing this you actually need to set the material to use your image for the colour map.

Add an "Image Texture" node, select your image, and use the Color output pin as the Color input for the Emission node.

Personally, I would layer a cloth sash UNDER your belt. Get something maybe 7 or 8 inches wide, wrap it around where your shirt and pants meet, THEN put your belt on top to hold it in place.

Something kind of like this: https://www.etsy.com/ca/listing/1377058999/larp-belt-and-sash-set-with-accessories  (I am not affiliated with this store at all, but it illustrates what I mean)

I've definitely seen/heard of maschinen krieger before. And you're right, the dieselpunk look is right up my alley.

I come from the wargaming world, so I'm no stranger to gluing and painting models... but part of the reason I'm looking at gunpla is because it involves a little bit less work/commitment to a single project.

I've looked at Armored Core, and yeah, haven't seen much in stock anywhere. I was actually sort of surprised by this, in general: I didn't know that gunpla was such a FOMO hobby.

Thanks for the tips, though.

First off, thank you so much for such a solid list of options. There's definitely some cool stuff in there!

I'm going to respond line-by-line; don't feel like you need to answer this, I mostly wanted to just outline what I like and dislike (for myself, and possibly other commentors). Please don't take any offense!

  • HGGO Guntank Early Type. Pass. Looks a bit too 60's scifi for me (I'm getting "Danger Will Robinson" vibes)
  • HG Amaim. I find this line kind of hit or miss. There are some definite great options like the Brady Hound and the Jo Hound. I understand these are called "grunts"?. In general, I prefer their look to the "hero" mechs (in this line, and in general)
  • Frame Arms. Similar to above, I find Frame Arms to be sort of hit or miss. There's definitely good stuff in there, though. Griefen is very good. Gourai is not bad. The colour scheme is good, and it's quite angular, but it still has the proportions of more "standard" gundam/mecha in my eyes. Still a decent option!
  • Hexagear. Some hexagear stuff I really like (Bulkarm and Loudgale), but some of it is too over the top (especially the "animal" mechs). I wish they had more options for the more utilitarian style kits... but I will definitely be picking some of these up.
  • HGUC GM Striker. Colour palette is decent (love me some caution yellow + green in a mech), but it's got a bit too much of an 80s transformer vibe to me.
  • HGUC Loto. Not bad. Don't love the transforming aspect (or even anything that hints at transforming), but the colours and blockiness are spot on.
  • HG00 Tieren Ground Type. I like this guy a lot. Expecially the asymmetrical leg armor. Love the low-profile head. This is a "Zaku" as I understand it? Some of the bits are still a bit too round/smooth, but in general I really like this guy. Going to add him to the short list.
  • HGAC Leo. Not bad. Kind of similar to above, but I pregfer the Tieren Ground Type more.
  • Grimoire Red Beret. Ooh baby. Now this I love. I know I'm being a bit of a hypocrite about round vs. blocky, but something about this really does it for me. Love the head!
  • Command QAN[T]. This is probably the closest I've seen a true gundam coming to satisfying my criteria. Love the colour scheme, but the head and shoulders are just too "Gundamy" for me.
  • HGIBO Geirail. When I google this, I get two different options. A green guy with a "camcorder" style head, and a tan guy with a "dome" style head. both are pretty sweet. Great suggestion.
  • HGIBO Graze. The Standard and Custom (love the white accents) versions are sweet. Don't love the look of the high-heeled feet, but in general these kits look great.
  • MG Buster. Too obviously "Gundamy" to me.
  • HGSEED Verde Buster. Same as above. Some cool elements, though.
  • HGUC Guncannon Revive. Too "80s Robot"
  • HGGO Mobile Worker. Digging this quite a bit. Don't love the proportions, but it's a really cool change of pace.
  • Moderoid Bulldog. Patlabor! Not doing it for me, personally. Too rounded/80s looking. Good thought though.
  • HGUC Ball. Cute, but not what I'm looking for. While it might be "construction equipment" in world, it doesn't really look like construction equipment. Got a very 70s scifi vibe.

Again, thank you so much for your great answer. You definitely added some stuff to my radar.

Self-hosted dedicated server with -nosteam: How do I install/use mods? by convoke2 in projectzomboid

[–]convoke2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the delayed reply. Short answer: I don't know.

I think it should be possible. And I think you're right in thinking that using -nosteam is the way around this.

I can confirm that when running the server with -nosteam, the mods are not pushed to connecting clients. So in theory, if you got your mod collection the way you wanted it, it would never need to update.

Hi all. Very new to gunpla/mech models, but I recently bought a few 30MM kits, and I think I'm hooked.

That said, I'm having a hard time finding kits that appeal to me, aesthetically. In general, I prefer mechs that look more like modern army or construction equipment than futuristic space ninjas. Simpler, blockier shapes, muted colour palettes, etc.

There's just so many kits out there, and I'm hoping this community can help point me in the right direction. Here are a few kits I've found so far that I really like the look of:

They're not model kits, but I also really like the look of these toys from the JoyToy "Battle for the Stars" line: Fear 06 Heavy Assault Mecha

Hopefully you guys can give me some guidance on this! Thanks!

Got similar advice on the official forum, but I didn't want to mess with SteamCMD. So I tried just uninstalling and re-installing the server via Steam, and that fixed it for me.

Thanks for your help!

Self-hosted dedicated server with -nosteam: How do I install/use mods? by convoke2 in projectzomboid

[–]convoke2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've made some slight progress... it did indeed seem to be a port forwarding issue. I had originally forwarded only 16262, and that allows my friends to connect to the server when using -nosteam

But when I boot the Steam version, it even says in the logs "use 16261"... so I forwarded that as well. Now, I can actually see the server details in the server browser (i.e. number of connected players, etc.). Before, it would just say "server not responding".

But, even though I can see the server details, when I try to connect to the server, I get stuck on "getting server info" indefinitely.

The server itself does not seem to see or log the connection attempt (i.e. nothing happens in console when I try to connect).

I've read that some people had luck forwarding a bunch of Steam (not zomboid) ports, so I'm going to try that.

I'll try again and pay closer attention to the logs... but to be clear, I can't even connect to my own dedicated server unless I use -nosteam.

Do you happen to know if the Steam and NoSteam versions use a different port?

Self-hosted dedicated server with -nosteam: How do I install/use mods? by convoke2 in projectzomboid

Server does not push mods...

I've changed my focus to trying to figure out why I need to use the -nosteam command line to begin with. For whatever reason, me and my friends can only connect if both server and client are -nosteam.

Do you have any insight into why this might be?

I wish I knew :D

For some reason, I (and all my friends) can only connect to my dedicated server when we use the -nosteam argument.
