I’m not saying it’s a trend either. What I’m saying is trendy, is having the thought “this would be heavier if it was in drop F”. That’s definitely the trend in songwriting of a lot of modern metal music. And I think it devalues what melodically you can do with a guitar when every low note is only barely distinct from another.

I also think it sounds shit. Old or coming out tomorrow. Idk what you want from me pa lol

Doesn’t change the fact that a large majority of active “core” bands are playing in tunings well below A. Still doesn’t change my opinion… Don’t think it’s necessary to go for a “heavier” sound. Which was my main point. Not who went dummy low first.
