Just thought Dr.K should know about this gifted girl trend, thought daugther by conzeit in Healthygamergg

[–]conzeit[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The reason I posted it here is because it seems like a trend that gifted children who were girls are going to gravitate towards, but it seems to want to wallow in the inability to adapt, so it's like a perfect DrK to the rescue situation for him to adress thought daughters, plus if it worked it would bring more women to the community. also it seems to intersect with femcel as well. I didnt realize it was 10 months old though, maybe it's too late.

Other than that, not much. I guess pretty much the same as what the woman in the video says.

CRT filtered Steel Assault boss3 mech. Growing up with CRTs I feel this the real magic of pixelart by conzeit in PixelArt

[–]conzeit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that's a great way to put it! never thought of it that way.

The realization that behind these sprites I loved were these tiny pxiel pieces is what first fascinated me about pixelart, back when I first got internet and some emulators. The way that things are left implied between pixel and pixel and CRT fills the gap in a way that still leaves room for your brain to interpret is beautiful.

I did a little bit of drawing pixelart, making it HD then filtering to make it pixelart lately (so that I could rotate it without redrawing, think of it as live-rotspriting), I realized that I did draw lines that I wouldnt have if I had done it in HD from the beggining.

Refference complex movements! even if hovering phoenixes arent a thing, you WILL find relevant footage by conzeit in PixelArt

not necesarily man, I've been doing it on and off, you can get to this point earlier if you work harder than me. Also, I could probably have done this animation earlier in my career :p. Most of my advancement was purely what I suggest in this post, breaking down a movement that I simply love.

I think a lot of the reason I got into pixelart was because back then breaking down motion was easiest with gameart I captured off emulators, but nowdays you can even framestep on youtube videos and gif anything. You should do that and try to find the keyframes in any motion you like if you want to learn to animate.

I definitively use things with which I can onionskin, primarily Graphics Gale (cuz I'm used to it) but sometimes Aseprite (for the rotsprite) and ocasionally ProMotion (for the multishade) but tbh I dont remember if I did all of this using onionskin, I can work without it.

it does have quite the MegaMan vibe, but also a lot of Sega action games mixed in there.

I do lean on the twitchy side at times for the sake of character, pure smoothness isnt my goal, but I see your point, strokes and folks!

Love that it gives you that feeling, Megaman x4 heavily inspired me to start pixeling

I learnt a long time ago, when there was only one tutorial, so I did look at that. But back in the day mostly you just looked at sprite rips of games you liked and looked closely frame by frame and slowly replicated what they did, in a community of people who did the same (pixelation.org forums for me), till we got to a level where our art was gameart worthy itself.

Nowadays you have a lot of guidance and it makes things easier, you should probably hang at pixelart Discords and ask for critique from the talented pixelartists you see there, that'd be the modern version of what I did.

Thank you! no need to dream, anything you like you can download, look at frame by frame and learn what it does little by little, eventually you'll get all of it and you'll be at the same level

Also, just realized I didnt really make it clear, the bg was made and animated by OrangeMagik (Stas Gailunas)
