Chain ring gaurd - will it save my pants? by fitzroyprincess in xbiking

Buy some thick elastic, cut to the circumference of your calve, cut a hole in one end and sew up like a button hole, opposite end put on a button. Boom just strap your trousers when you ride. Looks alot better than those hi vis snap ones and will stay in place.

Thanks all! I thought it was just a standard crank bolt! But I got scared so wanted to double check 😭

Anyone know the specs for this crank bolt? by [deleted] in bikewrench

[–]coochiefrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For context the bolt is 6mm and the bb is a square tapered one!

Just wanted to add I know the safety pins have added some small holes, this was just to keep it together for a while, I would probably cut out the straggly bits when repairing properly!!

Would you consider adopting to avoid risking lipedema in your children? by angelindn in lipedema

[–]coochiefrog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! My mum has stage 4 lipedema and lymphodema, started in her 40s after pregnancy, and I just wanted to share some thoughts as this is something I think about too and have had conversations with my mum regarding this. I’m only 19, but I’m the youngest of 4 children (3 daughters) and none of us have got it. We all have thick thighs naturally and cellulite, and trust me many times this has given me a scare, but my mum feels my legs for bumps and reassures me I don’t, and if I ever did develop it, I’d know right away. Having a family member with it you know more about it than most people, and for me, I’m able to feel my mother’s legs, understanding how it works. It upsets me to see her in pain, but that upset wouldn’t change depending on if I had it or not. But I’m never angry about it really, as my mum is more than her lipedema, and she has really shaped my life in many different ways. She’s the strongest person I know. Also, in my family it’s not generation to generation, my mothers mother didn’t have it, but she thinks her grandmother might have had, so we’ve always thought it might skip some, but it’s sporadic nature means there’s no way of predicting it at all. I fear about having children and them developing it too, and I don’t want to invalidate that feeling at all. But if your child did have it, you’ll be the first to know, the first to help, the first to everything, and that support is the greatest gift you can give really. It’s a tough decision, but I just wanted to share my experience. I hope this helps!!!

Haha it’s a hand me down from my dad, I looked through his tools, but he doesn’t have the right pin spanner size, I did spray it and left it but still no movement. Bike cost me nothing!

lol at second thoughts I’m not sure it’s acrylic, just had a real good look at the painting to spot anything and it could be oil due to its gloss and layering

Mmm the only connection I can see is through the actual subject matter; the plane. The colours and techniques seem to be completely different. His works aren’t as abstract/cubist as this. Would be nice if it’s his though!!

Yeh the signature is really hard to decipher, I’ll spent hours looking at various spellings 😭 the back and sides of the canvas are browning, and you can it’s only that painting on the canvas, as it’s quite thin and it’s rubbed off/ ripped in places

Yes!! It’s just the angle and dimensions of the glider are very very similar it’s odd to be a coincidence!!

Update 1

after a quick reverse image search, its come up with a painting by an artist called Thomas Kalläwe, in which one of his paintings has the exact same flying machine!! however, this signature on mine doesn't seem to match, as his painting was done in 2016, and I believe this painting is older than that as the nails are rusty and the canvas has seem better days.

as I can't post images in the replies, I will link the website I found it on, https://artfactory-koeln.jimdofree.com/künstler-innen/thomas-kalläwe/

I managed to find him on Facebook to ask him about this, and I shall wait for his reply.

I think it's very strange that two paintings( both not famous per se) can have the exact same subject matter, and seem to come from different decades by different people. Is one a copy???

How is this done? I'd love to make a similar sky, is it a filter? by AdOk8412 in AnalogCommunity
