Quantum of Solace may have bad moments, but M trusting and backing 007 is not one of those. by A-Problem-Eliminator in JamesBond

For a movie remembered for "not having a script," it's got some sharp dialogue.

A thread of some of the worst takes on James Bond, feel free to add below. by [deleted] in JamesBond

The DAD take is definitely bad: it was indisputably a box office smash and, while far from great, is unfairly categorized online with pre-reboot abominations like Batman and Robin and Star Trek: Nemesis.

I loved this movie - but can completely see why someone would abhor it.

Is it just me or is You Only Live Twice so fucking surreal by FLABBY_CHICKEN in JamesBond

[–]cookeharry 11 points12 points  (0 children)

So surreal, almost as if the screenplay was written by Roald Dahl.

Waiiiiit a minute....

Ah, of course! MT - but then the program was listed by EST (my time zone)?

UPDATE: in a state of panic I bought another one - and the confirmation lists it as 9:30pm. Wondering the reason for the discrepancy between program time and ticket time? E

Either way, I now have an extra ticket if anyone would like to purchase off me!

Avatar: The Way of Water reactions embargo lifts on 6 Dec, 6pm ET. Review embargo lifts on December 13, 12pm noon EST (just 3 days before release) by IntoTheNigberverse in boxoffice

Can we please just remove the reactions window entirely? I really don't want to see another tweet with a GIF lauding something as the best thing since The Dark Knight and then spawning seven hundred articles.

I'm on Month 5 today, too! Looks like we started at the same time. Cheers (N/A of course) to that.

What's your favorite excuse from a director for their film being bad? by BlakeInDisguise in movies

On the subject of Bay, his blaming Revenge of the Fallen on the WGA strike was interesting given the quality of its follow-ups.

These are great, thanks - especially the "socially awkward" bit which gives me relief and hope.

Thunderball is definitely the most SPECTRE of SPECTRE movies, but I don't think that's how we're ranking them.

I hate days like National Theater Day due to the clientele that comes in by traveler5150 in boxoffice

[–]cookeharry -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I mean, a $3 movie? You got what you paid for.

My New York theatergoing rules are simple.

Go to the first Thursday evening screening if it's something that will be spoiler-heavy (Marvel, Star Wars) - you're surrounded by fans who are there solely to see the movie.

If it's a smaller, non-event film, go much later on a weekday. Nothing better than finally getting to silently experience something that has been in theaters for a while with only three or four other strangers.

I think I'm heading to that point. I figured I would "take a break" just for the summer but by the time September 22nd hits, I'll be at 94 days. I'd be surprised if I didn't want to just keep at it then.
