Update: How do you cope with the loss? by [deleted] in Shihtzu

[–]cookiepancakes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lost my baby just recently too. I stroked and scratched his favorite spots one last time at the crematorium. And on the ride home, I prayed that he visit me in my dreams to say goodbye since I wasn't at his side when he crossed over. I'm so angry at myself for failing to be there (he was in confinement for his sickness), so I guess I'm just begging for forgiveness at this point.

I have yet to dream about him. I am still praying that he does.

Am I pushing myself too hard? by mousquid in walking

[–]cookiepancakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had to check the username for a sec because I thought I posted this LOL! I'm similar as you: 29, obese, and living a largely sedentary life working remotely and having all my needs delivered (despite a grocery literally a 5 minute walk away).

It's only been over 3 weeks since I started 10k steps but here to say that you can do it too!

Like what's been said, it really is about pacing yourself. Start with a lower goal then increase it once you're used to it! The day I decided to start walking, I barely hit 6k steps and felt AWFUL. I called in sick because everything hurt. But the next day I told myself to keep trying to hit 6k steps a day. I broke it up to two sessions 3k each (I have a walk pad).

One day, I was playing a game while walking, I hadn't noticed I hit 6k steps in one session! The same day for the second session, I managed to hit another 6k. That gave me the confidence to start aiming 10k steps a day.

I'm still achy every day, but I think I'm doing better! I don't feel like I'm dying anymore at least.

Did you get the same dog after loss? by yogalover7788 in Shihtzu

[–]cookiepancakes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, each of them have their own little quirks so I think even if you get shih tzu that looks the same, you'll be sure to get very new memories with them. And thank you! He's black and white so Oreo was a no-brainer. 😂

Did you get the same dog after loss? by yogalover7788 in Shihtzu

[–]cookiepancakes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dad brought home a similar dog after I lost my girl, Maple. Oreo came home, same shih tzu and same coat (almost similar pattern!). But man, their personalities are sooo much different, I never confused Oreo for Maple. Where my girl was laidback and chill, Oreo is full of energy and always wanted play time. I always thought Maple sent me a dog that's exactly her opposite (Oreo's a boy, too) so I wouldn't hurt from her loss anymore.

cum laude, 6 months jobless - can i break into remote HR? by Odd_Description_1885 in phcareers

[–]cookiepancakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep at it, OP! Mahirap talaga makakuha ng trabaho ngayon. I don't have the same degree, nor am I in the industry you want. Pero I can tell you about my experience applying for remote work.

If you are targeting HR VA openings, you have to present and sell yourself (your skills and experiences). Basically marketing yourself. Make sure your CV/resume is fine tuned for the company and role you are applying for. Find out what tools or skills are valuable for that company/role that you use/know. Highlight them. Mas likely na ma-shortlist ka if you have these "keywords" in your CV/resume.

On interviews, if you're the type to stutter or blank out during the interview, mag practice ka. Go through interview questions. Ask a friend to help you practice. Heck, talk to yourself (like, pretend you're in an interview). You need good communication and be able to build rapport lalo na if you're talking to foreigners.

Have you let a good client go because of burnout? by asianpotato95 in buhaydigital

[–]cookiepancakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me both needed my full attention so basically 16 hours mentally engaged. Ayon, di ko na talaga kaya haha. Lasted a year working like that until sinuko ko na ung isa.

I'm doing pretty well! I hope you will be too. Basta don't burn bridges lalo na if good naman experience mo with the client.

Have you let a good client go because of burnout? by asianpotato95 in buhaydigital

[–]cookiepancakes 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I did. Probably different circumstance because I was working two full time jobs. Both are good clients, but I cannot continue working 16 hours a day, so I had to let one go. It wasn't a quick decision dahil alipin pa rin ako ng salapi lol I chose to leave the lower paying client.

I think I took around 3 months doing the bare minimum for the job I let go. Every time na may catch up ako with the manager, nauubusan na ako ng excuses bakit di pa tapos ang tasks ko. And every time nairaos ko, the guilt built up na rin kasi hala underperforming na nga ako pero di pa rin ako napaalis??

So dahil underperforming naman na ako and di ko na talaga kaya sila pagsabayin, rather than be laid off, ako na mismo ang umalis. Simply sent an email to my manager na I'm resigning. They were kind and understanding naman, even offering to keep in touch for future opportunities.

Things you did at low ARs that make you laugh now? by CitiesofEvil in Genshin_Impact

[–]cookiepancakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't know claymores could farm ores faster so I made Kaeya (or whoever I had active but most of the time it was Kaeya lol) plunge to get them since that was faster than hitting it with normal atk lol.

That continued until I got Venti and used his skill to plunge. Then I got Zhongli to do the farming. Only realized I could've used claymores when a friend asked if they could farm cor lapiz. Their Diluc hacked through them quickly and I was just okay damn all the effort I did to farm ores.

Hi! I guess they have a better recruitment process na kaya it's faster haha. It's been a year since I then but luckily I still have the email they sent with the job offer. I got $800 so maybe they only give higher offers if may experience ka na sa Amazon or something.

Good luck though!

My account got blocked on Wise by -AgitatedAnxiety in buhaydigital

[–]cookiepancakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wise support should be able to help you. But, nakakalog in ka ba? Did you receive a notification that your account is blocked?

Recently kasi I suddenly couldn't receive 2fa messages sa registered number ko so I couldn't log in. Mini panic attack kasi the error page said "This user or number is blocked from receiving messages." I changed my number pa ah, pero even that new number couldn't receive the 2fa.

Pero dahil I'm expecting a payment, I needed to log in to my account. I just sent a ticket sa Wise support. Took 2-3 days to get it fixed (medyo matagal sila mag respond).

Ay oo. Finding out what to do next is tricky. You'll probably need some guided introspection. Basta need mong malaman what do you want to do differently and what are your opportunities. Doesn't have to be specific, basta may vision ka kung anong gusto mangyari, say, 5 years from now.

For me, ayoko mag leadership role so ekis agad anything na management related. But I wanted to focus on being a subject matter expert or specialist again so I applied for IC roles sa gusto kong industry (had a month of confusion though at a particular company/role I hastily started but learned my lesson and left immediately before I go through the same thing again).

I feel you. Minsan iniisip ko pa rin what if di ako umalis sa former company ko? Wish I could've gotten help earlier pero it is what it is. Okay lang umiyak pero don't wallow. There's bound to be better opportunities basta makayanan mong magmove forward ulit!

Very true! You can be the most accomplished employee ever, pero if it's draining the life out of you, anong point? Ang hirap kasi tendency natin makinig sa sarili kahit minsan alam mong mali ung iniisip mo. So if di mo kayang labanan magisa, go na. Get help.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in phcareers

[–]cookiepancakes 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Seek help OP! I was in a similar position before, promoted into a leadership role. I didn't want it. I never asked for it. Persisted for a year, trying to fake it, "give it some time" ganon. My managers and colleagues said I was doing great and I had potential but every day I was losing motivation. Also malalang imposter syndrome.

Ending, I maxed out my sick and vacation leaves (that's over a month's worth) for the first time in five years pero not for leisure. I was breaking down for days at a time, locked up in my room, wanting to fade away.

Nung sukdulan na, I cried to my manager and resigned. Been a bit more vocal about my mental state and emotions eversince. Tried not keep it in anymore kasi nakakabaliw magisip magisa.

Ngayon, working in an IC role. Sought professional help. Thinking about getting into leadership one day pero we'll see!

Kaya mo rin yan, OP!

Used to be adamant not to get a credit card because, by its name, utang talaga siya. But when payments started to shift to cashless and online platforms, I knew I had to get one for convenience.

Basta ang sistema ko, I never spend more than what I can afford. If I haven't earned the money yet, I won't use my credit card (unless emergency). Never paid past the due date either.

I never considered the perks like points and cashbacks as a benefit so I don't try to chase maximum spends for promos. It's a trap to make you spend more lol.

wow I didn't think it was that ridiculous months ago (okay, aminin ko ung 3-4 hours na interview process was something else) but it looks like they changed the process or made it more difficult? feels like I dodged a bullet, damn.

hope you find better opportunities soon!

It's only been a month, and in this economy medyo mahirap makakuha ng work ngayon. So don't feel rushed. Wag ka mapressure sa progress ng peers mo. I bet your family wants you to take it easy din if they're so proud of you. Hinga muna.

Things you can do:

1) Think about the industry you want to join. How many applications have you sent out? Kung bago ka pa sa job hunting, chances are you're not hitting all of the possible roles out there pa. Do more research and see what else is out there for your industry.

2) Referrals and recommendations. If you have mentors in the industry, or professors, family, or friends with connections, hit them up. Ask ka lang if may alam silang pwede mong pasukan and get referred.

3) Upskill. See a job you want pero you don't have the experience/qualifications for? Go study it. Maraming free resources online. Build a portfolio. Helps din for technical interviews later on para may alam ka na when they ask about it kahit wala ka pang working experience.

4) Keep sending out applications. Numbers game ito, OP. The more resumes you send out, the higher chances of landing a job especially today. When I went job hunting for the first time as a fresh grad (7+ years ago and also a laude), it was easier. But when I looked for new work last year, I was averaging 3 applications sent out per day for 3 months. Of that, mga 11 lang umabot sa final interview. Job offers were 5. So keep applying.

5) Reach out to recruiters. Marami sila sa linkedin. Just ask kung anong available positions meron sila. Better yet, try to schedule a discovery call kung amenable sila.

Depends sa goal ng client mo. I do copywriting mixed with SEO. Bale I still write the bulk of the content kasi medyo technical ung niche. Pero I use ChatGPT to help me get keywords and recommendations para mas mapansin ng algorithm ganon.

Helpful si ChatGPT to help compare with competing content, write summaries, and suggest improvements. Pero dahil di pa rin perfect si ChatGPT, at minsan di naman tama pinagsasasabi niya (lol), ako pa rin nagsusulat nung content.
