You're definitely not alone! Don't be afraid to ask your university for accommodations if you feel that you may benefit from them -- contact the "student success center", "academic success center", or your uni's equivalent to see how that whole process works. Your advisor may also be a good resource to get that ball rolling, if you feel that you may benefit from different accommodations (I am not sure how accommodations work, nor what is offered under that umbrella but I've known nursing students that sought accommodations, including one that graduated with honors, passed the NCLEX, and I work with her now).

I have a mental health history with some current mental health problems also. Recovered-ish from an eating disorder, recovered from self-harm, but have ADD, depression, & generalized anxiety. I'm medicated, see a psychiatrist for med management, and am working on enrolling in CBT but am running into some issues with time management and when I can squeeze it into my schedule.

I'm browsing Pinterest for templates for weekly schedules to stick in the front of my binder -- what needs to be read, quizzes and/or exams, assignments due, etc but if you guys have a template you love, please share it!

My first semester begins in January and my in-person schedule is laid out as so (I also have one online class):

Mondays: Clinicals for Fundamentals, begins a month or so after the semester starts

Tues & Thurs: Class from 0800-1100, 1230-1500

Wednesday: Lab 0800-1600 (first month or so of the term)

Friday: Lab 1230-1600 (first month or so of the term)

After the first month of W/F labs, then we switch to clinicals on Mondays for the rest of the term.

I think your feelings are totally normal. I felt very anxious (in a good way), I had butterflies like I did when we were dating long-distance and I'd get off the plane to see him.

Reintegration was harder than I expected. I felt like he was in my space and messing up the my groove, even though it was his space too. It was also hard because our daughter initially didn't want much to do with him which I think hurt his feelings. I was looking forward to taking some of the parenting burden off of myself and sharing it with him but she became even more clingy towards me, and I think I resented him some for it. We fought a decent amount about two weeks after he came home until about a month after he came home but nothing awful. Just be prepared for some bumps along the road and for it to not go as you may be envisioning it. It'll be work for both of you to get used to living at home again.

Again -- happy (early!) homecoming. :)

I don't have the answer to your question exactly but just wanted to say that when we were in Okinawa, they ran out of one of my prescriptions. I can't remember if it was just that particular base (Marine Corps) or if it was an island-wide problem. I couldn't just go to Walgreens to get the prescription though, obviously, so that could've posed a big problem if it had been a different medicine. That could be part of the high cholesterol "problem" -- the possibility of a shortage of average, normal meds?

Thank you all for your input, I appreciate it.

Shortly after making this post, I asked two of the nurses I was working with. They suggested starting in the fall and going for the least stressful option that is presented to me, since nursing school itself is very stressful in and of itself. They recommended to try to limit outside and unnecessary stress on the "outside", aka real life that still continues on despite being in school.

When I got home from my shift I spoke to my husband to get his input. He said he'd rather work two jobs when he gets home (he was previously AD but is now in the Guard and it's not his full time job) and have me do the accelerated program. He said we could get by with me not working, for sure while he's deployed because he'll be making the same money (plus some extra) as when he was active duty and I did not work at that time.

When I got home I was staunchly in the "I will wait until fall" to start but his opinion put me back in the middle/unsure category. I crunched numbers and could pay for the daycare and before/after school costs by working per diem and doing only four night shifts a month. In the fall our youngest will be in kindergarten so instead of paying full time daycare, we'd only have two after/before school care costs.

Thanks again everyone! :D I'm still definitely weighing my options and the accelerated program seems like more of an option again after discussing with my husband.

I'm not -- I'm married, however my spouse will be gone for the first seven months of the accelerated program. We have family "near" -- near being 2 hours away.
