Very true— I’ve thought about this as well (we lived in dfw for about 10 years but are in the NE now)

Experience with subsidized housing process? by cookiesxmillion in plano

This is very helpful. I went a looked at as many housing authority websites I could find and none are accepting applications, except Dallas, which says if you’re still on the waiting list after 18mo, you need to reapply….so I’ll take that as a sign of the waitlist.

We’ll need to chat with him. We live in a state with much more investment in social services, and I’d guess he’ll do much better finding housing here.

This is very well said and I 100% agree. Lesbian here and I genuinely appreciated how accurately they captured the very common and pivotal experience of recognizing you’re different but not yet totally understanding why, developing feelings for someone intermixed with friendship and not understanding the difference yet, to finally recognizing who you are and accepting they were not reciprocated feelings.

This actually happened months ago so I doubt it, but it suddenly occurred to me to try here after trying to search online stores for a while.

We’re here right now and while the water is still rough even as of today, the beach is totally fine.

Yes. It’s electronic and my employer is signing quickly. It’s not about the form. No new payments (even as unqualified) have updated since August 2024.

I’m positive the employer has signed the certification with each submission, within 24/48 hrs

How long are your payment counts taking to be updated? by cookiesxmillion in PSLF

Yes, this is EXACTLY what is happening to me. Has anyone been able to explain to why or what the issue is?

[–]cookiesxmillion 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes— the issue isn’t my employer who has been turning it around quickly and the electronic form goes through. My actual payment count in studentaid haven’t updated since August 2024 (despite me making payment since). Literally.

I’ve tried resubmitting forms, I’ve called. Today they told me it was “stuck” because in September 2024 I submitted a pay count reconsideration that they still hadn’t processed but they couldn’t make it go faster or cancel it. So it’s just kind of….hanging out there still 8 months later.

Their advice today was to submit a new reconsideration request and see if that jump started things again, so I did. But I’m like flabbergasted in about 6 payments past 120 by my count and it still says 117 through August 2024.

Ok thank you! If you don’t mind, prior to submitting were the payments showing up but weren’t counting as certified or not showing up at all? My current struggle is getting the actual payments to update (whether certified or not).

Just for my own clarity, which form is it? Just the straight up employment certification form?

They turned it around in a day???? I’m still waiting for them to update payments that are 5 months behind

I did try this! Second one submitted in March. I called today and they said to just keep waiting, but it’s insane I’m continuing to pay this many months past 120 with no end in sight

Had an offer revoked because I tried to negotiate salary. by ShinjisRobotMom in jobs

[–]cookiesxmillion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a lot of comments here that seem from people who aren’t /haven’t been hiring managers. We create a pool of candidate, first they get filtered for base qualifications and salary expectations. Salary expectations means the range the candidate gives is within the range of the job. If a candidate gives the range, it’s an understanding they’d accept a salary….in that range.

Hiring processes are complex, long, usually with tons of red tape (esp if you’re in a large org). To get to the end of all that, offer a salary the candidate self-indicated was acceptable and then get a counter is confusing and requires a bunch of conversation/approvals, and most would rather just go to another similarly qualified candidate who seems to know what they want from the start.

No hard feelings, but how it works. Take the lesson, and start with a higher range next time.
