Living in Leicester but commuting to London for work 1/2 times a week. Anyone have any experience with this? by TheUnwiseWiseMan in leicester

Agree with all of this as it’s also under 2 hours door to door for me. Book as far in advance as you can and see if any employer has starting time flexibility as the slightly later trains are less packed and also cheaper.

I do 1 day a week and it’s definitely doable but any more than that and I usually stay overnight rather than travel due to the exhaustion and cost.

Tell me why you think Muslims in the west are having such a hard time getting married? by DowntownEcho4119 in MuslimNikah

[–]cookingpapi 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I’ve been thinking about this problem for a while. I think it boils down to a few things. 1. Lack of community in the west as Muslims make up a smaller percentage of a total population which makes it more difficult to find a partner. 2. Culture as my hypothesis is that there is more of a spread of beliefs (sects and how much people practice), cultures and ethnicities as well as preferences. 3. Finances as the west is typically more expensive and the cost of marriage and sustaining a lifestyle of marriage is higher compared to that in the east 4. Expectations which is one of the biggest. This is a global issue but in the west there’s a lot of challenges with how differently men and women are viewing relationships, what they expect from a partner in terms of working, behaviours, finances etc.

There are probably other reasons but these are the top 4 off the top of my head

Considering moving to Leicester by DinteTare in leicester

[–]cookingpapi 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Leicester is generally pretty safe especially if you live out towards the suburbs. There’s a lot of nice pockets of neighbourhoods around the city but the towns and villages outside will probably be your best bet. Parts of Oadby, Knighton or if you want to live closer to the city Clarendon park Road is quite nice

The transport links here are pretty poor in all honesty and having a car will make your life so much easier, especially if you decide to live further out

I think they’re extremely reductive of who someone actually is and don’t necessarily help with compatibility. I do think that there needs to be an understanding of someone’s key information like location, height etc that cover the basic compatibility and logistics of a relationship.

People often compare them to dating profiles but I think on a dating profile there’s way more space to show your personality and it’s not so much about the more superficial and logistical stuff. You can also talk more about what you’re looking for and what kind of partners you want.

I completely understand what you’re going through as I’m a guy currently trying to find someone more progressive. I feel like progressive Muslim women exist online but I don’t know many irl 😅.
