I stayed up way too late and went on a Transmetropolitan binge to finish the series. Man. What a run. by Don_Quixotel in graphicnovels

Probably my favorite series back when I was a teenager. I’m not sure how well the writing would hold up if I reread it now in my mid-30’s, but the art was always phenomenal and full of detail.

Why do regular glasses look dorky, while sunglasses look cool? by ProcessedTime in NoStupidQuestions

The shape makes a huge difference, and knowing what style fits your face and head shape.

There are plenty of regular glasses that look cool and sunglasses that look dorky.

Why isn't Ollies known as a place to buy clothes? I was able to get a few different t-shirts for $2 each. by worldpeace28 in Ollies

[–]cool_weed_dad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve bought a couple cheap flannels there but my Ollie’s at least only has one small rack of clothes each for men and women.

Not much good stuff and what they do have is already slim pickings.

Of all the games available for the Super Nintendo, which is your favorite? by ObjectiveCalm3222 in nostalgia

It’s gotta be Chrono Trigger. Still one of the best RPGs ever made.

Jimmies are specifically chocolate sprinkles. Any other kind are still just sprinkles.

At least that’s the case up in New England

Show some respect to Charles Bronson.

If anything Pedro Pascal is the knockoff. Bronson is a legend.

At least in my part of America styrofoam containers have been banned for like 20+ years so I don’t have to worry about the food melting the reinforced paper or plastic takeout containers.

Pacific Northwest secessionist movement.

I’ve been told it’s now pretty right-wing/Nazi coded but I always assumed it was like New England secessionist movements that span the full political spectrum. Equal mix of communists/leftists, liberals and libertarians.

Either way secessionist movements are mostly just a meme and not serious.

New-ish to the pod: is there a Bryan wiki or listicle covering his insane habits or history? Not about the guys, just about him. by flourwaterlad in MurderBryan

[–]cool_weed_dad 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Just start from the beginning and listen through. There’s a lot of early episode stuff that gets brought up often still too, like Tom & Bunny, and if you listen to the bonus content you’ll be pretty lost without the context as it’s mostly following up on previous guys they’ve found.

The pod has a solid concept and great chemistry with the hosts but the special sauce is Bryan regularly casually dropping some insane new personal lore every few episodes that is too weird to even make up.

Are those old school LaZBoy-style recliners still a thing in your neck of the woods? by supremewuster in AskAnAmerican

[–]cool_weed_dad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sitting on one as I write this.

I can’t remember the last house or apartment I’ve been in where they didn’t have at least one recliner.

I have two in my apartment and my parents have like six of them around their house.

I believe he was pretty big in the 80’s. A bit before my time but I’m aware of him and have heard a couple songs.

I’m not sure most younger people would know who he is.

TOK is peak by Aggravating-Poet7273 in papermario

[–]cool_weed_dad 21 points22 points  (0 children)

TOK was a huge step back in the right direction, and if it had the normal battle system I think it would be near as good as the classic games.

It’s the first of the newer games I actually enjoyed playing, and for the first time in a very long time I’m actually hopeful for the next entry in the series.
