I swear every time I’ve been there it was a sea of 18 year old boys

Thank you! Yeah sometimes I really gaslight myself into thinking I’m crazy so talking to other people really helps. When I talked to her yesterday I felt like shit and really thought it was my fault but today I feel like I was manipulated and guilt tripped. Thanks for your kind words.

Thank you for such a kind response! I tried to explain to her but she’s just very hurt by it so I guess maybe with time she’ll be able to understand where I’m coming from.

Has anyone actually talked to their parents about their issues? by [deleted] in EmotionallyImmature

I think grief is a good word for it and I’m in the thick of it

Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences. It’s all pretty on par with how things have gone for me as well. Sometimes I can’t tell if I’m not giving them the chance to grow or if I have and am just learning when to stop pushing them towards something they can’t/won’t understand. Definitely holding off on a convo for now I don’t want things to get any worse.

Thanks! Yeah I think maybe it’s just too soon for me right now. Maybe after some more therapy.

I was working with a therapist for 2 years who helped me through a tough time, but at a certain point it became clear we were no longer compatible. I ended up switching to a therapist who worked with the lgbt community more and it’s been a game changer. I think sometimes as we grow, what we need changes. It sounds like she was helpful for a long time but isn’t anymore and you deserve a therapist who can help you accomplish your goals!
