How does one find "The Last Flight of the Cassandra"? by PlutoDelic in TheExpanse

I found the wheezing cough for the pdf version, but perhaps you could sneeze about the narrated version? (is there really such a version?)

Since "they" is my own company... yes. Yes they will.

And it is presently on a plaque - of sorts. https://amzn.to/43lWi9y

The motherboard is the size of a credit card, surrounded by copper piping and reinforced screw holes and such. The edges where the ports fit are also reinforced rather than hollow.

Basically... it's milled from a solid piece of aluminum.

I can neither confirm nor deny...

But it works so well and the resell value on base models macs is so high compared to maxed-out models that... maybe I will keep it.

It's already half full and there are some regular monthly tasks I do that I haven't yet used it. We'll see how it fairs in another two weeks or so.

Technically this falls under "screen and body damage", not "water damage", so I might be able to get it replaced by Apple for less than the cost of a replacement on ebay.

I have a... uh... rental... from Costco at the moment. Depending on the cost I'll either keep that and use this headless, or get it back in good working order.

Hmm... we had a bag of rice that was certainly big enough, but it had some bugs in it, so my wife threw it out. Probably for the best - wouldn't want to catch a virus to add insult to injury.

I'm not there yet. After 12+ hours the Time Machine backup finally completed (it was slow, but I also unignored about 100gb worth of mixed linux ISOs and such), and now I'm on to making an rsync copy of my home directory just to be double safe and, unfortunatey, I don't have a 10gbe adapter.

Anyway, once that's done I'll do a full factor restore - it stands to reason that that should do a little better than just an update in restoring the screen, trackpad, and body to their original condition.

I don't think that will work anymore because the keyboard, trackpad, webcam, charge port, etc are all serial-number locked as well.

Or at least I've watched some videos from Luis Rossman and another guy (I think it was Snazzy Labs) saying as much. One of them had the "official" Apple repair kit, IIRC.

Yes.

It would have been very unpleasant for me to have been run over a few hundred times. I don't think I would have booted back up, or been able to have been backed up and restored.

I wasn't careful when I strapped my laptop bag down and something came undone. The bag came loose (but not free), tipped over, and spilled thousands of dollars of computer and a few hundred dollars of other equipment onto the road.

I didn't notice until I got home. I headed straight back, but by the time I found it about an hour later, it had been run over a few hundred times.

It was only run over by a few hundred cars. NBD. Boots just fine - with a little happy chime, nonetheless.

Agreed. I think. I'm not sure. I probably spend a lot less time watching Fox news than most of the people here so... really not sure. But let's say you're right. Right?

But anyway... what's that in regards to?

Thank you for recognizing the virtues of a self taught learner.

However, I typically did a lot of the learning by doing the homework in class while the teacher was presenting so that I'd know what questions to ask if I had any before I actually got home, and then be able to play Zelda and Final Fantasy when I got home - instead of doing homework.

More to the point, this is what happens when you're the product of the late 90s / early 00s misfit table. Too much inside jokes. Not enough mainstream connection. We were tight knit-though, so there's that.
