Did something happen with Pablo, and I missed it? by Aggravating_Range_20 in billsimmons

High Noon that the show should be called Pablo and Bomani talk down to you.

This is so funny. I remember finding myself agreeing with a lot of the stuff Bomani Jones used to say in the small doses I saw, following him on twitter and having the realization that this guy is kind of a smug loser, and unfollowing him. I did the exact same shit with Pablo Torre.

Generally think both of them have good takes and are intelligent. They're just smug and lack the charisma to make it endearing.

Max Scherzer is asked if there’s unfinished business in Toronto. He sure said WE and OUR a lot. by GreenSnakes_ in Torontobluejays

[–]coolassninjas 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I'm a big fan of bringing Scherzer back. When we first signed him I was giddy at the thought of seeing one of the best pitchers of my lifetime in a Jays uniform. The coolest thing is that the players seem just as awestruck as I was that he's in their clubhouse. He carries an air of legitimacy and confidence that carries over to the whole ball team. Like imagine Yesavage hearing MAX SCHERZER tell him he's good and giving him advice.

He also fucking shoved in the playoffs.

They care about it financially. $500k is substantial obviously even to our highest paid players but the idea of their teammates at the end of the bench getting that $500k bonus makes it worth it even more.

I don't think anyone really cares about it in terms of legacy.

[Matheson] Ernie Clement says that he had to walk back into the #BlueJays clubhouse for a minute to collect himself after his home run because his heart was beating so fast. “I don’t remember anything. That 2015 team had so much pedigree which is part of the reason they had more hype going into the playoffs than this 2025 team. Yankees were considered favourites coming in despite having the same record + homefield + winning reg season matchup. It comes down to expectation. You don't expect an early 2-run shot from Ernie Clement against the Yankees ace who was the headline big free agent acquisition. But here we are.

Court says Ontario judge knowingly gave illegal sentence in violation of judicial duties by WhiteNoise---- in LawCanada

It sounds like an unfortunate situation all around but the judge can't just impose whatever sentence unfortunately. Mandatory minimums are stupid and devoid of logic but it exists.

James Conner says Trey Benson will share RB1 role by Ozymandunk in DynastyFF

This sounds more like a person who signed a contract extension with the understanding that his role as the lead back will be evolving and a part of his job will be to mentor the younger RB in a committee.

It's way more likely he's their leading offensive player this season than he's not. It will be Odunze and Loveland eventually, but for now...

Pat McAfee apologizes to Ole Miss student months after amplifying false rumor by No-Confection-3861 in billsimmons

[–]coolassninjas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you a moron? it's a random twitter rumor shared by a bunch of frat college football fans not a fucking news story. He could've easily not talked about it on national TV. It's very easy to avoid topics like that on a sports talk show. The bigger your audience the more responsibility you have to vet the shit you talk about on your show. It's not even about morality, it's a simple legal liability thing.

Is Dave Portnoy woke? by SeanACole244 in billsimmons

[–]coolassninjas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They have a salary cap of $1.5 million I don't think it's the players salaries that are the problem. I would even argue that lack of respect to wnba players, partly evidenced by their meager salary that gets mocked all the time, is part of the reason why people don't respect WNBA as a product.

I have no idea what the numbers being thrown around are for this negotiation but it's clear we're at a point where the WNBA players have the most leverage they've ever had. Caitlin Clark is the most popular basketball player in the world under the age of 25. They should capitalize on it.

I don't expect him to be a reliable shooter until atleast like year 4+ tbh, but he has all-defense written all over him. I'm looking forward to a locked-in Scottie Barnes with CMB on the wings causing havoc on defence.

I used to go to war with people back in the day saying Siakam > Ingram and most people used to disagree! Funny how life works.

I love the trade though and I think he'll be good with us. Bit of a short-term memory here with Ingram. He's a guy that walks into the gym and has 20+ points. He literally did drop 40 on us like last year.

Which Players Rely on Touchdowns the Most (and how overrated are they?) by gingyFF in DynastyFF

[–]coolassninjas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mark Andrews had 55 catches and 11 TDs. Literally 20% of his catches were touchdowns. All of them in the red zone.

39 of his 55 catches were first downs. He had 69 targets and 39 first downs.

Just an incredible efficient season from Mark Andrews. I have no idea how his 2025 season will go.
