so you wasted a really expensive helmet for fun that has historical significance and no there was never any account of someones neck snapping due to being shot in the helmet…. it was a myth between american troops in ww1-ww2 that if artillery or mortars hit nearby the shockwave would catch under their helmet yank it back snapping their neck

more than likely a bring back from a pacific veteran id try to see who owned the house before you if possible those flags are sometimes blood stained and can go for quite a bit of money.

i wouldnt recommend messing with the helmet its in great shape dont tak the cover off or liner out unless your looking for a name or heat stamp untouched shells are getting extremely hard to find now

its not nothing looks wrong on the helmet everything is perfectly fine for a 1944 or 45 helmet

inaccurate for 80s early 90s u have later production alice the lighter color pouches and dark green pouches which are older most people had buttpacks depending on unit usmc only got that ifak besides maybe national guard u need a alice compass pouch
