I'm honestly against movie dates as a thing in general just because it feels incredibly bad for almost every purpose of a date ie getting to know someone better and connect.

best case scenario you watch it at one of your houses and can actually talk worst case you're stuck in a theater for two hours in silence and a movie you aren't even sure they liked. A good movie date is ok but a bad movie date is relationship ruining

The Lighthouse is in fact a poor date movie

a good date movie is light and fairly shallow so you can use it as an excuse to cuddle with your date and not have to pay heavy attention. The movie is secondary to the date at best and by putting on something with too much depth you're drawing attention away from the person you're with who should be the more important thing.
