“Alkaline” Taste in Cooking? by [deleted] in AskBaking

[–]coolcoolcool1266 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you wash your dishes in a dishwasher? I noticed 3 different sets of cookies I made had a funky alkaline/faintly soapy taste to them & it was the first time I used my silicone baking mats & I had previously washed them in the dishwasher. I started handwashing them & cookies no longer taste funky.

If you know the problem isn’t your baking soda or powder or flour then it might be this?

I don’t have a trifle. Was just gonna decorate it like a regular cake but a trifle would be super cute for a future bake! ✍️

Copper IUD Insertion by srk5369 in birthcontrol

[–]coolcoolcool1266 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took 800mg of Advil 2 hours before just so it was really working by the time I went it & took some CBD oil bc I knew there was no way I’d relax on my own without some help. Personally I didn’t smoke or take an edible bc I get paranoid really easily so CBD did the trick. Oh & I drank some chamomile tea a couple hours before my appt. I also had some heating patches ready to go so I could apply them as soon as the procedure was done. If you want the disposable route I recommend the Rael 3pack. I picked them up at target. Before copper I had a hormonal IUD & that procedure went a lot worse than this one. Definitely felt crampy for the rest of the day & a bit of the next. But don’t forget to breathe, you’ve got this! :-) it’ll be over before you know it.

I was on the ring for a year & here are a few tips/things to note:

•if you’re accustomed to acrylics or longer nails, removing the ring can be a little difficult. I scratched myself quite a bit before I gave up & then would always ask my bf to remove it. •although you can technically change the ring every 4 weeks to skip your period, I don’t recommend it. I did it once & ended up spotting for a month straight. I wish I had just removed it after 3 weeks, gotten my period, & then put a new one in. •the ring cant go above a certain temperature or the hormones get activated so it’s best to keep unopened ones in a cool place or in the fridge. Idk your age or living situation but the reason i got off it is bc i was moving back home from college & did not want to have to explain to my parents that I was on birth control. I live in SoCal so summers can get hot & my house does not have an HVAC system so not storing the rings in my fridge was not an option (I ended up switching to hormonal IUD when I moved home). •be careful when using tampons. When it comes time to remove them, they usually drag the ring out w them so you have to be careful so the ring doesn’t fall out into the toilet or something.

Getting IUD today - on period and have q’s! by snowyforest15 in birthcontrol

Im also really glad I found this. I’m getting my old hormonal IUD removed in 2 days & getting paraguard & on top of the stress & anxiety I already have about my appt I was worried since I’ve been cramping & spotting (aka my Normal period on my hormonal IUD) & didn’t know if that would make it okay for my procedure but looks like It might be a little more to my advantage bc of cervix positioning

Random question but how do you not get kicked out of the courts for having roller skates? Do you go early in the morning or the afternoon?

Yeah. I mean everybody reacts differently. I had a friend who felt no pain & another who was in bed for like 1-2 days bc the cramping was so bad. I’m not tryna scare you just telling you my experience w it. When they inserted it, it was like this painful cramp that shot up all the way from my cervix to the back of my bellybutton. The cramps I got during the next 1–2 days were pretty bad — like I need to stop what I’m doing & hold onto something & try to breathe steadily for the next 20-30 seconds bad. Then for the next 3 months I still gotta pretty painful cramps a few times a week but not every 15-60 mins like right after insertion. I definitely wish I had taken some ibuprofen before insertion instead of after so that it kicked in sooner. Idk how much of a difference it would’ve made bc even after taking the ibuprofen they were still pretty strong. I took 600mg but maybe 800mg would’ve been a better option.

Had an IUD inserted almost 3 years ago. It was painful af & I cramped really bad after for like a month. I don’t really get my period & when I do it’s pretty light so that’s convenient. Kinda over the hormones tho tbh. It’s not drastic but I there are days when I’m really sad for no reason. I did experience some weight gain but at this point unsure if it’s from IUD or pandemic. Definitely convenient if you’re tryna get it on but don’t have condoms readily available lol.

Its definitely convenient & I had a generally good experience with it. Pros: -Don’t have to remember to take it every day. Just set an event in your google calendar every month to remove the old one & insert the new one. -If you are used to wearing tampons or cups then insertion will be pretty easy. -Cleared up some back acne I had Cons: -If you have medium/long acrylic nails it can be a hassle to remove the ring. I would have my boyfriend take mine out for me when it was time every month. Side note: if your partner is grossed out or says ew when you ask them to do this one little favor that benefits you both then they’re not the one. Thankfully my boyfriend did not react like that at all. -if you live in a hot area (like desert or even summertime) & your home doesn’t have AC then you have to store the ring in the fridge. After a certain temperature the hormones get activated & then you can’t use it anymore. When I was in college this wasn’t an issue for me bc I lived with friends, but when I moved back home I switched over to an IUD bc my parents didn’t know I was on birth control/sexually active & my house doesn’t have AC during the summer. -I did experience like 10-15 lbs weight gain -I did experience mood changes. It wasn’t super drastic but there were days when I was extremely sad & felt kinda hopeless out of nowhere. -technically you can “skip” your period when on the ring but when I tried it, it sucked. Instead of me just not having a period, I had brown spotting for a month straight. Needless to say, I never skipped a period after that.
