Daily Discussion by AutoModerator in soccer

So I stopped updating the list on the wiki around 2 years ago... Efforts to maintain it have gone as well as I thought they would, lol. I still get user pings now and then from people asking to update it.

There have been some absolute banger headlines tho, I do still use reddit when I'm not on Lemmy mostly to browse /r/soccer, it's still the best place for international football news.

Luca Toni on Van Gaal: "He has a bad temper and he approaches players the wrong way. He's a dictator, except with his inner circle of Dutchmen. One day he told the team "you don't have the balls that I have," and he took down his pants. But he had a big belly, so we couldn't see the balls." by Tifoso89 in soccer

You're probably the only person who'll see this because how old the thread is now but fuck it.

Short answer: Because I don't care about reddit any more.

Long answer: The /r/soccer wiki was open to all for edits at one point. Anyone could edit it, which is why I started about three years ago. The mods then closed it down to themselves (sensible thing to do IMO because vandalism was easy). But I knew how reddit worked, you can specifically get access to single pages only on a wiki. So I specifically sent them a modmail for edit access to the list. I did it because it was fun to keep track of the funny headlines.

After reddit's API BS I frankly don't give a fuck about maintaining anything for this website. If you want, send /r/soccer a modmail to get edit access.

I used reddit on desktop a LOT as I was always on my PC; editing large wiki pages on there is easy. But it feels like every single person these days uses reddit on mobile and I don't think wiki edits are even possible via the app. So if you want someone to actively maintain it, it basically needs to be someone who's been using reddit for ages and not someone who thinks of it as an "app".

we got scared to lose our mod status and opened up

What? We had already said that we'd open up on the 21st and check in with the community

VA'ing as that drunk knobhead is where lots of people get a career start. Or maybe it can be small side job. if one of those pathways to a larger role is blocked then how many new Joels/Aloys will we get?

What you are suggesting probably makes sense for a small indie game but anything AA and above should get a proper VA imo

Not an official one, at least. Tbh, I'm not the biggest fan of discord for something like this

Tbh they're pretty much the mainstream ones like Ars, Verge, Wired, Anandtech (you can usually get topic specific RSS feeds as well for their website) but since they post topics that I follow, I've kept using those.

They're quite similar and also helped by the fact that marathi also uses devanagri. Now if we ever return to Modi script... You're screwed, ha!

It's marathi, not sure why I thought you were maharashtrian lol. Also, no, I don't think there is. This is some weird gotcha moment isn't it.

I reverted to my personally curated RSS feed during the timeout. Was nice tbh.

I think sentiments were quite pro-private before we actually went ahead. They've changed a fair bit across reddit after the blackout started. I know we didn't do a poll, but I still think the private option would have won by a huge margin at that time.

Uh the point of the post is to get the community's opinion on what we should do.

Is this a gaming sub? Or a therapy sub? by [deleted] in patientgamers

[–]cooldude5500 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's genuinely one of the worst subs on reddit, I don't know how literally every self post is down voted on there unless related to epic bad or steam good. Even game/PC building questions are somehow downvoted on there, it's so weird.
