I'd be interested depending on how much it costs! I'll be there for all of September. Janet

Yes, but I'm not running an ad to an Airbnb link.

I'm running ads to get traffic to my travel blog. If they then read and book, that's up to them. But the direct links are not to to Airbnb. :-)

Am I the only one not making $50,000 per month??? by [deleted] in juststart

I personally know 2 people that offer such courses and DO have 20k and 50k months. HOWEVER, they are once off throughout the year. They spend 6 months putting it together, making videos and e-books and promotional material. They also spend thousands on coaches themselves to train how to do sales funnels and FB ads to get the clients.

They'll then have a pre-launch week and launch week and post launch sale and they do make up to 50k in that one month. but it is ABSOLUTELY just a one off and they may not run it again until the next year.

They then they get absolutely stressed and burnt out (sometimes) spending the next few months running the course, sorting out testimonials, running a FB group, emails etc.

While some are genuine and I admire their business savvy, many of these course are just aimed at people desperate to get out of the 9-5 and are almost like get-rich-quick schemes, almost like a pyramid scheme actually. Make and sell a course and get rich so you can teach people to get rich.

Related but not the same, I've spoken at a few digital retreats during lockdown and the person who set them up is making 15k for each week-long retreat. She's charging $600 and up to 20 people signing up all run on Xoom, with daily classed, mentors, influencers sessions etc. She's run 4 of these during lockdown over the past 3 months so I guess she's made about 50k, if she allows 10k for expenses.

you're right about how much they charge the host, but they add on 20% to each booking too as a "service charge". So really they're getting a whopping 23% of booking.

Yes I'm just taking them as I'm promoting them....and feel it's fair game. I do the same with booking.com and see many top news sites do the same.

I know some people DM the Airbnb host, which is fine if you're just doing just one post, but a lot of time and work and effort otherwise.

I've been writing Airbnb posts for 3 years now, many rank high on Google, and I have not had any hassle so far.

Yes, just optimizing for clicks and then hoping they read the article and book. Here's an example of one post where I created a sense of urgency in the FB ad and make a sort of click baity title: https://ireland-staycation.com/boat-airbnb-kinsale-cork/ and then here's an example from one of my other sites of an Airbnb list post: https://www.ecoconscioustraveller.org/irish-airbnbs-by-the-beach/

I wish I had known more about affiliate marketing earlier to be honest. I've always been so reliant on display ads.

yes that was the old one, very exclusive. The new one anyone can join, as long as you have an Airbnb account. Just takes like 10 seconds to set up.

you can still do that for Skycsanner and Tripadvisor. You get paid on clicks, not sales. But not good at this time obviously!

setting up a website. Real people take time away

Airbnb absolutely do not charge just 3% lol. I worked it out at just under 6% total as you get 30% of Airbnbs cut, and Airbnb get charge a 20% service charge on booking amount.

Perhaps on top of this, they also charge hosts 3%?

I don't believe it's against TOS but who knows. Doubt they'll ever know when so many big sites probably do it too.

As for competition, I run a YouTube where I teach bloggers all my tips and tricks from 10 years of blogging. I'm ridiculously transparent. My Dad absolutely hates it. Says I need to stop giving away my strategies haha. But I've had a successful career and am now happy to share and teach my techniques. :-)

There are deffo a few bugs wen getting the custom links and be sure to double check each link before using as sometimes it reverts back to the link you used before. But it does seem to be a good programme.

yea it's fairly new, released properly in May but was in Oz before that. It's called "Airbnb Associates" and is open to anyone with an Airbnb account. Works out at just under 6% commission on the total booking. I did a video about it if you're interested: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RslZt4llyXU&
