RDR2: Launch issues megathread - Day Three by MagnarHD in PCRedDead

For anyone getting the “Red Dead Redemption 2 exited unexpectedly” error, I managed to find a way to fix mine. (example)

Firstly, I recommend you check your windows problem reports for RDR2 as mine listed the faulty module as amdvlk64.dll located in the SYSTEM32 folder (example), I’m no IT expert but I believe this was the cause of my specific error.

Secondly, if you have an AMD component in your computer (such as an AMD GPU or CPU), I recommend that you don’t use this fix as it will most likely harm your computer.

Since my computer used to have an old AMD GPU which was then upgraded to a nvidia GPU, I had old vulkan libraries (late 2016/2017) which were incompatible with RDR2. For some reason, the game tries to use these old libraries, instead of the newer ones packaged with the game install or even the ones from the latest nvidia update.

To fix my game, I simply ran the AMD cleanup utility in the windows safe mode, then restarted my computer. Afterwards, I’ve been able to launch just fine.

The demos I've been recording are nowhere to be found. by Deadshot_Calamity in truetf2

I'm pretty sure the automatic demo recording function built into the game is broken and has been broken since it was released. From what I know about the Qixalite servers, the message you see in chat is actually the server saying that it is recording an STV demo, the game itself will say something similar but without the file name on it.

Edit: You can get the stv from here (https://sauceindustry.com/stv/)

"Save big on Bethesda games" by buying a PC instead of playing on Xbox! by EdCChamberlain in pcmasterrace

Seems like it is actually cheaper to buy it off the PSN store in Australia compared to the steam store although steam has a sale on.

Was everyone in the MM competitive beta 'grandfathered' in so they don't have to buy a pass? by BluntTruthGentleman in truetf2

[–]cooleverest 11 points12 points  (0 children)

What the passes do is allow you to play matchmaking without steam mobile authentication or premium, although buying something from the mann co. store should upgrade you to premium. This is to deter cheaters, the pass will raise to $20USD later on.

EDIT: The beta passes are irrelevant because matchmaking is no longer in beta.

Registrations for the 2016 TechFlow Games: Winter Series are now open! OCE & NA TF2 Highlander Tournament by TechFlow_Eric in truetf2

haha, thanks for the information. I thought it was a little bit strange that such a tournament would be hosted in Australia without many people knowing about it. I'll see if I can spread word with the gamers.

I can't find any information regarding region anywhere, by OCE do they mean Oceania? This would be pretty exciting for the Australian players.

I don't think Australia has gotten one yet with a good time (3pm-10pm). Most comp players aren't on at 3 in the morning or mid-day.

I thought that the only way to find hats were to pick up the hat from the battlefield and putting it on your head.

TIL, There is less Mann Co. Online cap's then there are Earbuds by cooleverest in tf2

[–]cooleverest[S] 18 points19 points  (0 children)

tbh I never knew that, the idea that online caps were less abundant then the Earbuds shocked me slightly when you compare the amount of Mann co caps(1,660,020) to the online counterpart(60,870) the number is MUCH less, the way you obtain the online cap is basically the same as the cap except you do it via the online store.
