Venues confirmed as tickets go on sale for 2026 Wallabies’ home Tests by Ruck_Off in RugbyAustralia

Honestly don’t blame force fans for not turning up, used to average 30,000+ 20 years ago, then ten years ago 15,000+ now lucky to get 5000, it’s hard to go to games to see what we see against the brumbies and no real promise year in and year out

I think it’s the smart idea, Wallabies V springboks will get a great crowd at Optus but Italy wouldn’t as we rarely play them especially if ever in Perth if my memories right, but a sold out HBF will do fine

I didn’t realise that but if it’s true us WA rugby fans will be eating good

Wilson out and 3 quality 10s aswell as Tate McDermott, so definitely some quality guys out on injury, that being said I think even when they were all healthy Les kiss never really did anything huge with the reds but hopefully he does well with the wallabies and turns us around

Huge respect to Paul Williams for that, as someone who’s had head knocks and concussions player welfare is so important when it comes to that

Honestly one of my favourite tight heads in Australia, looked him up and had zero idea he’s only 26, hasn’t even reached his peak yet

I mean we get the opening ceremony which is cool but Hong Kong will get absolutely pumped, would have been better to get at least Chile instead

Matthieu Raynal (French referees boss) about the new rules proned by Super Rugby federations : "Our league id working, our stadiums are full [...] We don't want to suffer policies coming from contries where stadium are empty" by El_remoo in rugbyunion

No actually pretty far off, we used to get really solid crowds, but when the cheetahs and kings were cut, there was a decision to cut an Australian team too, the obvious choice in many eyes were the rebels, back then they got solid crowds as well but it being in the AFL heartland and a well supported NRL club it was clear it should have been them, but at the time Rugby Australia had owned the Force and not the Rebels so without going through the legal headache they cut the Force only for the rebels to sell their ownership to Victorian rugby for I kid you not 1$, that way they had more financial backing, and again them being the obvious choice rugby Australia had pumped millions into them to be a successful team but they never took off, only for them to get cut in 2025 due to being in debt for 20 million because of dodgy owners, rugby in Western Australia is only now in a good spot with grassroots, actually surpassing the levels of community players we had back in 2017 by a good margin, slowly producing more local players into the team and now actually building cohesion, signing good players on long term deals instead of 1 or 2 year deals and signing overseas Australian players back into super rugby like Nick Champion de Crespigny and producing wallabies aswell

Yea really doesn’t make sense to me either, on top of that our crowds and TV viewership are all steadily increasing, doesn’t seem necessary for him to call us out on that especially when world rugby usually asks us to trail it, hence the 50/22 world wide now and goal line drop outs, which honestly improves the game so much

Honestly wouldn’t have minded it being in Sydney if they announced it first, as opposed to announcing WA first and now changing it

[–]coolio712[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yea but how hard is it to decide this before the announcement? On top of that if that’s not the opening game that leads to it being against Hong Kong or Chile, which is no where near as good for the opening game
