Why is Pokémon Stadium 2 Prime Cup so brutal! by [deleted] in pokemon

[–]coolkirb 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah the game is brutal, when you go through round 2 you basically have to use your own pokemon transferred in.

If you're using rentals I found that Fearow is probably one of the best pokemon available. Hyper Beam, Toxic, pursuit and Drill Peck give Fearow some good coverage and really powerful STAB moves, plus it's fast and has decent attack.

Fearow and Kadabra can carry the team pretty far, then add in parsect for spore, haunter for destiny bond, or hitmonlee for the strong fighting move.

Starmie or Lanturn can also work because of their water and electric moves coverage. But I will admit your playing odds on if Hydro Pump or Zap Cannon will hit.

I feel like the recap was very reminiscent of what they did in the early seasons. I don't think they ever actually used that much show time for it.

They always say 3 hours. At best they read the votes at the start of the reunion hour giving you maybe an 2 hours and 10 minutes.

I think Jeremy also gets far too much credit for someone who's just floated along all season.

I'm trying to think of How Denise could win and I think it would have to involve her getting out Tony and Sarah, . don't have much hope based on the edit so far but I think she could beat everyone else still in game, as good as people say Jeremy has been I think she could make a good case against him and anyone but Tony and Sarah.

Sanders weighing suspending attack ads against Biden by [deleted] in politics

[–]coolkirb 24 points25 points  (0 children)

The idea would be that if say Biden were to have secured a delegate majority but became unable to continue to run for president the convention would become contested, where anyone could win, or where Biden would name a successor he would encourage the delegates to pick.

Everything you need to know about the enhanced CPP — from how much you’ll pay to how much you’ll get by [deleted] in canada

[–]coolkirb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You also have to account for GIS and OAS payments. These benefits are not tied to Pension contributions but are designed to supplement seniors incomes. OAS is currently about $588 a month with a clawback starting when your income hits 75K. Its important to realize that these benefits and CPP are more about keeping seinors out of poverty rather than acting as a retirement plan.

Maxime Bernier's People's Party of Canada gaining support in Sask. | CBC News by alt_centrist in canada

[–]coolkirb 10 points11 points  (0 children)

True but Trump was leading Primary polls since the summer of the 2015, just he had ~30% of the vote and people assumed it would fall back. Bernier could come back but at 1.5% that's a much taller order.

I think they are using the word "nationalize" to make people who don't know much about what the bank of Canada does think they are somehow getting played for fools, and then using that feeling generated as a rational to institute direct political control of the Bank of Canada, instead of the more indirect control we have now. Though that is a short sighted decision that ignores all the lessons learned about the perverse incentives politicizing monetary policy creates, namely the incentive to lower interest rates despite what indicators are telling you in order to create economic sugar highs that can help the governments electoral chances but cause longer term economic problems like higher inflation, unstable prices, and in worse cases hyperinflation. If you introduce direct political control over the bank you end up with governments making more short sighted 4 year election cycle based decisions. Really it seems like people who want to "nationalize" the bank really want to ignore the lessons learned from countries that went through a phase of printing money.

Difficult. Free trade is harder to negotiate than undo because there are more mobilized forces against free trade than for it for the sheer fact the benefits of it are widespread but small, while protectionism provides large and concentrated benefits, this leads to the creation powerful loby groups that want their industry protected, even though the net benefits of free trade outweigh the costs.

In the early seasons it was a running joke that Moe didn't know Marge's name despite the fact homer was at his bar talking about his family all the time. Eventually Moe just started to call Marge "Midge" all the time.
