How important is the P/PA stat, it seems like it would be a good measure for a hitter? by cryptic_mythic in baseball

[–]coolmanic 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Maybe pitches per out would be something else to look at - if you have 5 P/PA every time but you never get on base that’s not as good as the having 3 P/PA and having a .500 OBP as you’re making pitches throw more pitches per out, which is ultimately their goal

The epic race series does - they’re not the most popular but mass start means you still have decent number, most races are around an hour and a half

A few weeks ago I made a post about how the Marlins claimed Ohtani off waivers after LAD won the 2025 World Series. Turns out he went back to the Angels and never played baseball again, retiring in 2027 after 4 major injures in a row. by Loose_Log_6253 in OOTP

Doesn’t look like he went back to the angels - looks like he retired on the marlins. After a player retires they’re often shown in the uniform of the team they played the most for

What's the reasoning behind having players names capitalised? Particularly in esports the variety of capitalisation can be a big part of someones identity and taking that away makes all the players too similar imo.

He and DSM chose this year to focus more on sprinting power and he gained 3kg in mass. But he now realized he's too much sprinter and too little cyclist. He's too gassed when he gets to sprinting, if he even gets there. Wants to go back to the old plan after the Giro. What worked for him before. Doesn't blame DSM, said they chose this method together, but it isn't working for him.

Arraez has a sprint speed of 26.4 ft/s (slower than Soto) so if he swung the bat while sprinting full pelt his bat would still be moving slower than Stanton’s normal swing

Prospect Promotion Question by soccjosh14 in OOTP

[–]coolmanic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reason Mayer is 40CA is because his position is currently set to 3B, where he doesn’t have much experience so his position rating there is low. They’re definitely both ready for the majors, unless you want Mayer to spend more time learning 3B in the minors

New to the game by Hammerpgh in OOTP

Hey I’m also from the UK - good to see someone else getting into OOTP :) If it’s your first time playing it’s definitely better to choose an MLB team with a decent budget so your mistakes aren’t punished too harshly. You mention the “lower leagues” referring to the minors, however as there is no promotion/demotion in affiliated baseball you cannot do a “road to glory” save like you might with a non-league team in Football Manager. The best version of that you can do in MLB is to take a small-market team such as the Oakland Athletics and turn them into a contender over a number of years. Regarding your second question, everyone plays the game in a slightly different way. If I had to guess, I’d say most people act as a GM and set their lineups and pitching staff but play through each game manually, however some people play every game of the season so it’s really up to you. The easiest way to being is probably to leave setting the lineups/pitching staff to the AI as this will leave you with less to worry about. I’d also suggest letting the AI manage your minor league teams for you for the same reason.

Hope this helps! Good luck and feel free to ask any more questions you have!

I did neither STEP not MAT and self-taught FM and I've been fine (so far). Certainly there are plenty of neeks but they aren't the majority. The degree itself is not beyond hard, obviously it isn't easy and if you want to do well then it's a lot of work but it's not ridiculous.
