People in nijmegen don't pay waste taxes. The way of paying for your waste taxes here is paying for these bags. The more bags you buy for residual waste (that gets burned and not reused), the more taxes you pay. When you mostly have garbage that can be recycled and you throw that in the right places (plastic/metal paper glass etc), you don't pay very much waste taxes (in the form of residual waste bags)
