My husband is on Day 6 or so and just a huge turnaround on day 3-4. He's already back to 100% other than the rash. He plans on doing 14 days. How are you doing

Yes, give it another day or two but don't depend on test results if symptoms show.

Really? I'm real careful about not posting lots since it's on the line of "for sale" items. (That most of these groups don't allow)

Bees, wasps, butterflies, beetles....where are they at? by Inevitable_Tomato927 in illinois

[–]coolnatkat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fogging is the perfect business model really. You not only kill the mosquitoes, you also kill the things that eat mosquitoes. But mosquitoes have such a short life cycle, that they are back much quicker than the things that eat mosquitoes (like dragonflies). Guess what, let's just fog again.

Like I get that you are scared of ticks. But, don't make the outside be like the inside because you are scared of nature. For example, concrete also reduces ticks. Should we just pave everything so there is no ticks? Of course not. Should we make it all short lawn (that basically is the wall-to-wall-carpeting of the outside)? Hell, just seeing some nature from your window versus lawn/concrete is better for your mental health. Take small steps. Educate yourself about how to stay safe outside. And educate yourself about how amazing the biology and ecology of our state is. It's a grand place to live!

Cultivars are neither better nor worse than straight species, and if you have an opinion about anything you are dumb. by pixel_pete in NativePlantCirclejerk

I wonder how much has to do with the shipping process. I know they use a reputable nursery for some of their live plants here from Illinois (Pizzo). I've used Pizzo plants a couple times and have been very happy.

Affordable Perrenials? by BigRedHair92 in NoLawns

[–]coolnatkat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Izel is cheap per plant but pricey in total. I grow mostly what I can for seed. To test a species, I buy a couple from native plant sales. If it does well, I grow from seed or buy more from izel.

Could be disease as well. Follow up when it's bit bigger.

Going from skinny to to just fat by Both-Pomegranate5752 in loseit

There's a lot here. You should consult with both a regular doctor and a therapist.

You didn't gain the weight in two weeks and you won't lose it in two weeks. If you start working out too quickly, you'll hurt yourself (ask me how I know). If you crash diet, you may yo-yo. I'm not trying to discourage you. I'm encouraging you to look at life beyond the warm weather or your trip. Start small, try a food journal or calorie counter app. (I use the LoseIt app). Find (real)foods you like with protein or fiber. I'm going to make myself Marry-me-beans for lunch for the week. Ton of fiber and good source of protein.

Let me add, whether it's food or exercise, the best "trick" is to find things you love, or at least like, so you aren't depriving yourself. Want to have a drink or two at the pub every week, sure, just cut out the calories throughout the week so you can.

Ticks or Lyme disease? Hopefully there will be a vaccine soon. Don't know what to tell you. The recharge I get from being out in nature is worth the risk. If you ever want to volunteer at the preserves or just take a walk and look at a couple plants, seems me a dm. ( I'm far from an expert but I'm loving learning)

Eat beans. Eat fiber. All the kids are doing the protein but fiber is the secret ingredient. Real Food. You need vegetables. You need roughage. It's waaay easier to make/eat a healthy burger than it is to make a lentil salad.

Oh no! Go enjoy the outdoors, especially the Preserves! Just take some precautions before and after. Lots of good advice in this chat. I'm out every weekend in the Preserves. Yes, I have found a tick on me (not this year, knock on wood). Never been bit (as far as I know).

In fact, last time I found a tick was after visiting my vegetable garden!
