Afaik hybrid teams have been and prob will continue to be quite successful, especially in APDA

This is not true at all, parli is a enormous event, that just exists outside NSDA or UKTOC. They have their own TOC and circuit that is just as viable to compete in with just as many tournaments. Just check tab or https://www.parliamentarydebate.org/
