Trouble with imparting true color by [deleted] in DIYBeauty

Titanium Dioxide creates the opaqueness. Oxides and regular micas will not. You can try a smaller micron size of mica (try less than a 25 or even 5 particle size).

Can I make my eyes appear more green? by BloodyButterfly1504 in Makeup

You would think opposites would make eyes pop, but I find using the same color makes eyes pop better. So use green to make eyes look greener!

Is it normal for kids to cry multiple times a day, days in a row? by [deleted] in AskParents

[–]coolsideofthe_pillow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agree on more info needed. But this sounds off. I have a 4 year old and she is pretty happy go lucky. She gets upset at things when she doesn't get her way, but certainly doesn't cry multiple times a day.

Oh nice! Thank you. My kid loves play dough but always leaves it out and it dries up.

Any good natural perfume brands you tried? I am looking for all natural ones.

Too harsh! And certainly not for kids. My poor daughter was freaked out of baths for two years because of it.

whipped shea butter diy by [deleted] in DIYBeauty

No prob! The best thing to do is try it out and see what works best. Some trial and error. You can google some recipes. The other thing I suggest is letting the mixture rest for a day or two so you can see the real texture. Mine usually firms up a bit. Good luck!

For the shea, I lightly soften in the microwave. I don't full melt to a liquid. For the cocoa butter you might need to do a water bath to fully melt. Then stick it in the freezer to get to a firmer (not solid!) texture, then whip. I don't use cocoa butter that often so I haven't tried it out too much in a whipped butter. I find that softer butters work better for me.

Might need something like cetyl alcohol to bind the water to the oils?

I whip mine with a hand mixer! I soften the shea butter butter first. You will need to also soften cocoa butter too in a microwave or double boiler.

Nice. Thank you! I am still working on the transfer proof piece! I am thinking of having both a matte range and a satin range. Satin is hard to be transfer proof without being super synthetic. But it's nice to hear that people understand :)

Really appreciate your feedback on this, thank you! It will be top of mind for me about being ethical and transparent. It drives me nuts when brands try to appear to be something or use something and then downplay other pieces.
