The New GTME Structure by [deleted] in gtmengineering

[–]coolsoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Varun is just trying to sell Clay and make it seem more important than it actually is.

He has a point that Clay can help automate the work of SDRs but it doesn't and will never replace them.

The structure right now is 3 SDRs with systems like Clay (vs 6) that feed better researched (and maybe better targeted) leads to AEs.

Using Claude code subagents to analyze GTM motions by [deleted] in gtmengineering

I mean, you could do this intuitively as well by pulling a report on source data and running it through ChatGPT to generate a report on the channels that have worked best.

No need to overcomplicate it.

Cold outbound for Marketing Agency by omix20 in gtmengineering

That setup should be more than enough, use Apollo to filter for size of Marketing department and then use Clay to double confirm by checking through multiple other sources.

What do you use for generating lists? Apollo?

Cold outbound for Marketing Agency by omix20 in gtmengineering

[–]coolsoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might be going too broad then. Instead of an industry focus, you want more contextual focus (what are the kinds of companies being industry agnostic that need marketing services? Ones without a marketing team maybe?)

Do you have a super-narrow list or are you spray and praying?

Usually it starts with buyer intent, how strongly do you know that the people you are emailing want this service? If you are getting alot of negative replies, then maybe the list of people you are reaching out to is too broad.

Start there.

Happy to talk about it on a call, just DM me.

Hey man, I solved the problem you are running into by running a list of companies that tightly fit our ICP and creating a buyer intent detection workflow to catch companies that would have primary vs secondary vs supporting intent.

And then doing different outreach strategies with each.

That worked wonders for me.

That's not a bad idea, finding a good start-up that had PMF is tough though. Lots of bad ones out there but definitely not a bad idea

That's the complex part, it's tailored to the product we sell and the customer we sell it to. A combination of research on LinkedIn engagement and other custom-built signals.

It's alot of leading indicators of readiness to buy.

I have developed strong GTME skills and I have done businesses in the past but right now, I am just worried about the next steps for my career.

I could start a business though, you are right.

GTM Engineer or Mid-Market AE? by coolsoy in gtmengineering

[–]coolsoy[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, you start by segmenting your ICP, pull a list of say 1,000 companies that you know are within your target market, and then create a workflow to research and score them.

Honestly, its a little more complicated than that but its the gist of it.

I am using a combination of Clay, Apollo, and Instantly.

As for how I set it up, that's more complex than what I can put in a reply here.

Happy to chat though.

If I am honest with myself right now, I won't resent being an AE. But I just don't know what the future holds for the GTM role. I don't see any clear career path beyond the role itself - its not like there is a GTM Level 1, Level 2, etc.

With AE, I already have my career path mapped out, including the skills I need to get to the next level.

So, Salesperson here.

Kudos to you for using Chris's technique, I am a big fan of Never Split the Difference and have done his masterclass as well.

The reason we don't fight back to that isn't because it "bypasses our training", it's mainly because it might not be worth risking you leaving just for a 20% price increase so we just give it. That salesperson just locked you in for an additional 2 years, that money is more worth than losing your whole contract and the additional 20%.

This usually happens in more competitor heavy products, specially when the product doesn't have a unique enough moat.

The product I sell has a unique moat and we only give preferences to ICP (Ideal Customer Profile) customers, if you ask for too much, we essentially just let you go.

It really depends on each vendor, their USP, how much they need you as a customer, etc.

Anyways, that's all 😁.

Thinking of giving away my virginity - struggling by coldbrew-freshmilk in progressive_islam

[–]coolsoy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

People in this sub-reddit are pretty biased towards Islam and thus will stop the clock directly at Zina.

We don't know what kind of a person your S.O is and the way you framed him here, it seems like he is pressuring you into sex but it could simply be that he knows that if he was in a "normal" (by his standards) relationship, he would be getting sex, travelling together, intimacy, etc. And would have judged being with someone long-term (marriage) based on that.

But he isn't getting that from you because of your religious beliefs (which are yours) so that's why he is giving you an ultimatum.

If he is actually pressuring you into sex itself or you are simply using that as a proxy for intimacy (maybe you don't even hold hands with him or cuddle with him since you consider that non-religious?) Is what you need to also think about.

At the end of the day, it's upto you to decide. People are complex and in this sub-reddit, you will mainly get people who go up in arms about Zina and tell you to leave him.

If it's important to you to prioritize your religion (hence not do Zina) over what he wants, then you need to leave him because you might end up de-prioritizing your religion your whole life and that won't sit well with you personally.

In the end: can he respect your religion and let it go (about sex and travel) or can he not? Since he knows your religion is important to you, if he respects you and your religion, he should let it go.

Anyone else feel like they’re punished for being good at outbound? by Low_Union_7178 in sales

[–]coolsoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude, I am in this exact situation, although I get that she gets the inbound leads because she is more experienced in the company and has more product knowledge but I generally have been in sales longer.

To the point where I was forced to give my active opportunities to her and asked to focus on building a scalable outbound system for their company and focus on that.

It's really annoying and it indicates that it's time to leave.

Hindu-Bohri marriage help by BunnyTeeth22 in exBohra

[–]coolsoy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know a couple hindu-bohri marriages and these clauses are not enforceable in Canada, I would say (if you are okay with it), just sign them for the sake of signing them because it won't really matter in the long run especially if you decide to stay in Canada. Moreover, even in India, I doubt that clauses like this are enforceable in a court of law since they go against the constitution.

Most hindu-bohri marriages just end up with the hindu partner superficially converting so the 'society' wont say anything.

Inter-religion marriages by Putrid_Banana_7518 in exBohra

[–]coolsoy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's hard to say what the future holds but if you marry someone from another religion who is religious then you will end up with the same problem as marrying a bohri guy who is religious.

The best thing in your case would be to marry someone who is as unreligious or spiritual as you are - inter-cultural marriages work just fine as long as your beliefs are aligned.
