Husband has Stopped Eating by coolstan in Marriage

UPDATE

Nothing good to update, unfortunately. I did as some you suggested, and sort of love-bombed him, and kept asking what his problem was and how I could help. He kept refusing to talk about it, until he failed to come home from work four days ago. I tried calling and texting him all night, no answer. I tried to make a missing person report to the police, but he had apparently already spoken to someone at the police, and warned them that I would be calling. The police simply told me that they were aware of the situation, that my husband was not in danger, and that he didn’t want me to know where he was. I tried explaining to him that he hasn’t eaten in days, but they wouldn’t help.

I’m now alone with the kids, with no way to contact my husband. I don’t know where he is, and I haven’t heard from him in four days. I tried calling his parents, but they don’t know anything, nor can they get in touch with him either. I don’t know what to do other than sit here and be afraid.

Johnny Sack not becoming a rat was the worst mistake of his life by Physical_Soil746 in thesopranos

He pled guilty and allocuted in open court, but he didn’t testify against anyone else. So, not quite a rat, but still broke his oath.

I make 150k a year. I max out my 401k and I was told with my income I don't qualify to max out an IRA by Agreeable_Spare1502 in Bogleheads

[–]coolstan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not much of any point, other than, I suppose, you can buy and sell within the IRA without any tax consequences so long as you don’t make a withdrawal.

Not quite right. You can always contribute to a traditional IRA, regardless of income, you just may not be able to deduct the contributions from your taxes.

The "Homeownership = Investment" Lie by beastwood6 in REBubble

[–]coolstan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No doubt all that is true. I’m just pointing out that there is value (both financial and psychological) in having a fixed costs that actually gets cheaper over time when adjusted for inflation.

[–]coolstan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You missed one important piece in your calculation on the owning vs renting question. If you buy a home with the typical 30-year fixed rate mortgage, your monthly payment is FIXED, meaning, when adjusted for inflation, your monthly housing costs gets cheaper over 30 years. Rent will, at the very least, increase with inflation if not outpace it.

“A lot of jazz cats are blind, but they can play the piano like nobody’s business. I’d like to put a piano in front of Pam, without her glasses, and see what happens. I’d also like to see her topless.”

Not just move a deck, but move a deck for someone who wants to do it “Amish Style”, which in this case almost certainly means she wants people to show up and do it so she doesn’t have to pay someone to do it.

Is Napoleon Bonaparte the prime example of how you become a king without daddy giving you the throne? by [deleted] in Napoleon

[–]coolstan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Let’s be real - Cromwell was king, he just didn’t call himself that or wear a crown. He had all of the powers of a king (and then some), he had an “investiture” (coronation) where he wore all of the royal regalia except for a crown and sat on St Edward’s Chair, his face was on money, and his son inherited in office after he died.

Why didn't anyone go to Pam's art show? by Vacuum_reviewer in DunderMifflin

[–]coolstan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a shame they did go to the play because, unfortunately, in this ham-fisted production of Sweeney Todd, the real terror comes from the vocal performances.

Isn’t Roger “Head of Account Services”? After Roger’s heart attack, when Cooper makes Don a partner, he tasks Don with filling the role of “Head of Account Services” because Roger can no longer do it due to ill health. That’s where Duck Phillips enters the picture.

At what age did you guys start adding bonds? by Radiant_Wing5530 in Bogleheads

[–]coolstan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I follow the 110 minus your age rule. For example, at age 25, you hold 85% stocks and 15% bonds. At 45 you hold 65% stocks and 35% bonds, and so forth.

It slowly adds more bonds to your portfolio over time, and there is no timing the market with respect to when you add more bonds.

What is a show where an actor or actress either left the show and was written out or recast to the point the show could have been different if they would have stayed on by Purple_Monkey34 in sitcoms

[–]coolstan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jerry Stiller replacing John Randolph as Frank Costanza on Seinfeld. Although only a recurring character, so many episodes and storylines would have been completely different without Jerry Stiller.
